New 2014 runDisney proof of time guidelines came out on the WDW Marathon Weekend page as follows:
If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours or the Marathon in less than 6:30 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge participants should adhere to Full Marathon proof of time requirements. Please reference the Race Pacing Chart below for finish times and associated pacing per mile.
A Proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after January 1, 2012.
- Half Marathon – 10K or longer
- Full Marathon – 10 Miles or longer
A valid proof of time provided at the time of registration must include the following*:
- Name of Race
- Distance
- City
- State
- Date
- Finish time
*For example, Walt Disney World Marathon, 26.2, Orlando, FL, 1/13/13, – 3:35
If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list “N/A” at the point of registration. If proof of time is not provided by November 1, 2013 you will be placed in the last start corral. If your proof of time data is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. To provide or update your proof of time, you must email all proof of time data requested above to [email protected]. No corral changes will be made after November 1, 2013.
As a reminder, you will no longer be able to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth during the Expo and have your start corral placement changed.
Dates, times and prices subject to change. All races are subject to capacity limits and may close at any time.

Bottom line:
You want to run a RunDisney race and start with people around your pace? Run a 10k or Half to get your proof of time submitted for registration – so that you are placed with them. Looks like each race will still have a deadline date you can email in a race post registration. In the past – after the email deadline, you could go up to RunDisney at the expo with a proof verified online or via a printout. Not the case anymore.
NEW RUNNERS, schedule a race as part of your training PRIOR to email Deadline to get placed with those at your pace and avoid being in the last corral.
My 2c – and remember I consider myself a CASUAL runner LOL,
With the change of proof from 2:45 to 3:15, I am happy to see 12.5 minute milers and greater are getting put in the Corral Mix based on pace and not just put in the back with everyone else – nothing wrong with the back…. but there is a difference between say even a 30 second pace that can cause lots of weaving in and out to stay at pace and pass slower paced people. Even in a crowd, a race is SO MUCH LESS STRESSFUL when you are surrounded by those at your pace and not constantly weaving in and out. Much less risk of tripping too!
I think this is a great idea. The RunDisney races are a blast, but the courses do get tight. Hopefully this will make things safer keeping people around you at your pace AND spread people out a little more. RunDisney listens to their runners and it appears to me they are addressing the crowding issue. Bravo.

Do you know how much time will be between corrals now?

Hey Julie! I have my first 10k planned for August just for this very reason. I’m trying to figure out what corral I would be in based on a 10k time. Is it based on your finish time or on your average pace from the run? And how does that convert to corral placement?
Julie Franklin says
Based on your finish time. Should be a race that is certified 10k. When the results are posted, email runDisney with your 10k Finish time and then DOUBLE it to give an estimated Half Finish time. They are very generous with projected half finish based on 10k based on chart above. Good luck!

Great to see you here Jindy! I am going to focus on shorter distances this summer….my old body…. next 1/2 in the fall! Follow along! Love my followers!

Great post! Love your blog – my first time here. Will definitely come back!
I actually decided to stop running so many dang half marathons and start focusing on 10K times just for this reason. Glad I did that! I have a huge 10K PR ahead of me April 14th. Wish me luck! -Jindy

I’m excited about this even though I won’t be running marathon weekend next year – it was rather congested at the start of this year’s race so hopefully this will help improve that!
Julie Franklin says
I am glad too…not doing Marathon, but Princess was really congested and people of all speeds grouped together! They want the race to be magical, so good to see they repsond to the runners!

It would be great if they started this for Dumbo! I wonder how many corrals there will be. This has be a long over do change. Thanks for sharing!
Julie Franklin says
I have not done a Disneyland race – so no idea. In princess they had like 3000 people or more per corral….. of the top of my head LOL. It got slow in the parks and on the one lane parts of the course.

I definitely agree on many points! Weaving sucks! So being with people about the same pace helps. For Tinker Bell 2012 the start from my corral was so slow and frustrating. The changes are good. I’m just surprised that they will observe races all the way back to January 2012. runDisney races are the best for sure! I can’t wait to get back into shape for all of them next year.
On another note… I love how you have your blog set up. I am on blogspot as well, how did you customize yours? Especiaaly with adding the Dailymile and other sidebar links…
Thanks!
Julie Franklin says
There is a huge 10k here in ATL in July, you HAVE to submit proof of time when you register. THE END. The starting waives go from A to Y, yep it takes a while to start and you just know if you don’t submit a time you are in the back. They also advertise the approximate start waives when you register, so I know I will probably be in K again this year. It is what it is, people will adjust.
As for blog…THANKS! I am having fun playing with it. I look at alot of blogs and get ideas…then I GOOGLE “How to add …… on blogger”. I used to program..NOT HTML, so code doesn’t scare me though I am SO not a programmer! Lots of help out there on the web! You can grab any HTML code, like for Daily Mile Widget and go onto the Design and add a Widget using HTML gadget, if that makes sense.
