I always need motivation to run. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but something in my mind is always wants to sabotage. Go figure.
It helps to have races paid for and on the Calendar to train for to keep me running. Right now I have paid for 2 10k’s – Peachtree Road Race the Fourth of July, Big Peach Sizzler on Labor Day, a Half Marathon in November – runDisney’s Wine and Dine, and the Glass Slipper Challenge in February – a 10k on Saturday and a Half Marathon on Sunday at runDisney Princess Half Weekend.
Love this logo capturing all things ATL – and its FLAT! |
Confession, I slacked off at the beginning of the summer and well I am not in great shape to RUN the 10k next week, so I have a plan: Do my intervals for the first half and then just see how I feel. I am giving myself permission to walk when needed, time is not in my mind so its OK to go slow and my main goal is to just finish AND have fun. I want to capture this fun Atlanta tradition for a Photo Video again. With a race the size of the Peachtree, 60,000 runners, and spectator support for all 6.2 miles, I love the photo ops.
So while I am a little late in my training for this race, I can look ahead to the fall races. Back on it and to keep me motivated, I LOVE reading other people’s race recaps. All levels of runners are inspirational to me. With this in mind, I like to recap MY races….. yeah, middle to back of pack me.
One Blog I follow, Twins Run In Our Family– AWESOME BLOG, put together an fabulous motivational post with 100 plus recaps of the 5th Annual Disney Princess Half Marathon in 2013.

The Twins blog is fun and I love how they state they are “Identical Twins but Opposite Runners!” Always great to see different perspective.
As I gear up for training for another half marathon, I have it bookmarked for my motivation. Check it out! These recaps NEVER get old for me.

I love all recaps. Especially the ones that are super descriptive and deal with personal emotions as much as the technicalities of what’s happening on the course. Of course, pictures are a plus. I am absolutely fascinated by tri recaps, even though I will pretty much never do one. I just think they are so fun to read about.

I completely agree that paying for races gives me enough motivation to keep me training. I also love reading recaps of bigger races to help me know what to expect (ie: crazy hill on mile!, horrible water stops, excellent bathrooms, whatever).
Thanks for including the link for Twins Run, I kept forgetting to follow them on Bloglovin’ and now I’m all set. ๐
