So we FINALLY saw Monsters University today, you know Mr RWFR doesn’t like crowds- we never go opening weekend. We all loved it, very cute movie. Its the back story from Monsters Inc about how Mike and Sully met in college while studying to be Monsters who one day will work the scare floor. Start out as enemies and end up besties…. AWWW. Great flick!
NOW I think the real story of our day was discovering the Mac Daddy of all movie Theaters, the AMC 14 at Phipps Plaza – recently renovated. Seriously this placed ROCKED.
The theater is located on the 3rd floor of Phipps Plaza – upscale shopping center in the Buckhead region of Atlanta, GA. The photo shows the new Ticket Center and area to enter this awesome theater just at the top of the Monarch Court escalators.

We paid for our tickets online and guess what? WE GOT TO PICK OUR SEATS! Yeah reserved seats. We were going to go last weekend, but when we went to look at purchasing tickets we would see how presold the theater was online. Honestly I don’t think there is a bad view in the house. The seats are LEATHER recliners that can be love seats with the middle section moved up. Lots of space between rows too. The front row is far enough back that its fine, especially when reclined down.

After enjoying these comfortable seats, I don’t think we will go to any other theaters.
If you enjoy your movie snacks, they have hot foods and typical fare. Order a large Popcorn and Beverage, its free refills. And check out the drink station for your refills….one of those cool pick your flavor and fill it up yourself!

Oh and if you want something a little stronger, they have a full service Bar called McGuffins. Hang before or after your movie or take your adult beverage inside the theater.
The tickets to get in here were a tad more than our local cineplex, but being able to pick our seats, see how crowded the theater will be beforehand, and those comfy recliners……yes, we will make the drive! We will not go back to any other theater.

This looks fantastic! I moved to Forsyth county last year from Michigan, but have yet to explore Buckhead. There are so many things I want to check out, but we never seem to make it past Roswell!
Roswell is pretty amazing…so many great things around ATL. I have feeling this style theater will be making its way out to the burbs esp Forsyth since lots going on up that way! We love going to the movies and even mini me doesn’t want to go anywhere else. Its pretty cool.
What a fun theater! In Houston we had a movie tavern where they have waiters/ waitresses and they serve full meals! It was the only place I would take the kids since the food kept them occupied and they had some room to roam if they got restless.
I haven’t found anything like that here, yet.
We have the cine-taverns too….but this is SO MUCH BETTER. Really….so comfy! AMC has scored big on this one!
