The First Word in my Blog Title

June 24, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Run.

That’s the word.

Know what has been missing from my life in June?

Running.

When I started this blog I wanted to write about different parts of my life….running is an important part.  Its my ONLY “Me” time when I am completely alone with my thoughts.  Its about me trying to stay healthy as I age.  Its about being outside and enjoying the endorphins. Its about releasing stress and anxiety.  Somehow I had given this up.

June KILLED me.  After the end of the school year craziness, we went on vacation.   I got out of routine.  Adjusting to the new summer routine was not easy….somehow I ended up Swim Team Mom and was overwhelmed to top things off.

I discovered something new for me last week.  Running at my local high school track.  Its almost 1 mile from my house exactly.  Two of my 3 runs this week were at the track.  I loved it. Flat, people around and easy to keep up with distance.  Why had I not run here before in the last 3 years.  Run to track….1 mile, run around track 4 laps =1 mile, Go back home another mile.  Easy run.  Go figure.
I was happy to see running make an appearance back in my routine this week.  It felt good.  I was reluctant to try the track but so glad I went out of my comfort zone and just went….as if people were going to look at me and laugh or something?
And with Swim Team almost over…what a crazy season we have had weather wise, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel…or the rainbow as we came out of dinner tonight!

Welcome Summer!  I am going to attack you with my running at a slow and easy pace….its hot in the south you know!  Running I have SO missed you.  I need you for my sanity – and well I have some big plans come fall and winter!

Have you tried anything new lately to help you get back or keep on track?  Love to hear about it!

Major changes in schedule always seems to throw off my schedule too. Glad you’re getting back into a running routine!

I have a high school track about two miles from my house but they don’t let anyone else run on it; not nice 🙁

I always assumed ours was not open to public which is why I never went…..Glad I found out otherwise! Bummer Kristen….if its a public school they should since your tax dollars pay for it!

I’ll have to come back to you in a few weeks. I’ve been really consistent with my training, and the next few weeks will be the first time I’ve taken a significant break.

I’m glad you found something to get back on track! Keep it up!
