Monday Memories – Wearing Mini Me, My Babywearing Days

July 22, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Did you know one of my most favorite things about Mini Me was when I wore her in my baby Carriers?   Snuggliest thing ever! I was introduced “baby wearing” when my princess was 5 weeks old.  I tried a sling from Infantino which well was not good. Thanks to some friends, I found some non-mainstream carriers and fell in love.  Here’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane with my baby wearing…..and yeah, I tried ALOT of them and had a blast doing it!

WARNING: These photos have been known to cause baby fever

Ring Sling Carriers

One shouldered carrier from infancy and beyond. Tail made a great nursing cover or sun shade.

Pictures are Sleeping Baby Productions Solarveil Ring Sling – LOVED IT! So did Mini Me.

Mei Tai Baby Carriers – no NOT a drink

A two shouldered carrier that is so comfy! The Mei Tai is my favorite type carrier. You can use from infancy to toddler hood.

LOVED my Ball Baby Carrier Mei Tai. I have to say, being able to snuggle and kiss any time, this is my favorite position – look at that cute little snuggle.

Here it is my Kozy Mei Tai Carrier. Best.Thing.Ever.

Tried on a Kozy Mei Tai Carrier and fell in love. Nice large body with padded shoulders.  Evenly distributes the weight. This was my favorite – used it on trips and around the hood!  Front or back…Mini Me would run up to me with her arms asking for a ride when she saw me pick it up. So durable and comfy!

Soft Structured Carriers

Oh and I was always trying backpack like carriers too….loved many! These buckle instead of tie like the Mei Tai Carriers.

Olives and Applesauce: Another Favorite for napping on the go.

So there you have some of my favorite memories. Lots of hugs and snuggles and fun times!

I was so into my carriers, for a brief time, I had my own business demonstrating and selling. Because they are not available in the main stream stores – it helps to try them on to learn the love.

My business has been closed for some time and in my recent Fly Lady clean out, I came across a few carriers – New and Unused condition and decided to share the baby wearing love with my readers.  Retail value $75-$89 plus shipping.

One reader will win a FREE Carrier of their choice.  Either a Maya Ring Sling One Shouldered Carrier OR a two shoulder Kozy Mei Tai Carrier.

The Maya’s I have are NEW Never used – all size MEDIUM check it out on the Maya Page.

Maya Ring Sling Choices…. Chambray, Linen or Striped all size Medium

Oh and if you don’t win the giveaway and like the Kozy Carrier, I have a rebate coupon for you worth $10 back after purchase….. let me know if you would like it via email runwalkfastpass at gmail dot com is the address, so I can send it to you!

Contest Runs through Friday – Winner announced on Saturday July 28th.  Good Luck and Happy Baby Wearing for all you Moms and Dads too.  Got Baby Fever Yet?

Thanks for the great info on slings, I was against them to begin with but this has offered some great info and product reviews. I will certainly keep these in mind.

Loved my baby carrier days…truly my favorite mothering “tool”. GREAT for travel where the streets are uneven and a stroller is just cumbersome. Mini Me LOVED our carriers too. I loved feeling her hugs!

I think I’d most like to try the Maya Wrap, though I’m short (just a 5 foot), so I’m not 100% sure the size medium would work for me? If not, they all seem like wonderful carriers and I’m happy with ANY!!

Good luck Randi! They really are great!

I would be interested in trying the Kozy–we’re already registered for ring slings for our twins (due in October), but I would love to try other options.

LOVE the Kozy! You can use it from day 1. Great for front and back. There is a funny picture of Kelly on the Kozy site carrying one baby on the front, one on the back! Good luck! And Congrats on your upcoming arrivals!

I would want the Kozy mei tai for my brother! He and his wife are expecting their 2nd baby and I know they would love this! I carried my youngest in a mei tai and still carry her(she’s 2 1/2) in my SSC. It was a lifesaver to be able to carry my youngest while my oldest would run around.

      July 23, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Good luck Katie! I agree….LOVED my Kozy and then the Soft Structured Carrier was amazing…I had a hybrid Olives and Applesauce. Mei Tais are so easy to use!

I love my Maya and use it for both my baby and the bigger kids. It was a lifesaver on our recent airplane trip and I use it around the house when the little ones don’t want to be put down. I think I’d like another Maya.

    • Julie Franklin says

      July 23, 2013 at 3:35 pm

Good luck! I love the shoulder on the maya – great carrier and you can never have too many!

My friend needs a Kozy … She loves the cuddles but dislikes her “mainstream” one!

    • Julie Franklin says

      July 23, 2013 at 3:34 pm

The mainstream ones just don’t work. I loved how my girl loved the one arm in one arm out in our kozy. Forgot about it until i saw thee pictures. Good luck!

I’d love the striped Maya Ring Sling. I’ve always loved that pattern. I’m due with my second baby in February, I wore my first son all the time in a ring sling for his first year, can’t wait to wear the new baby!

    • Julie Franklin says

      July 22, 2013 at 8:30 pm

I have loved that fabric too! The pattern is so pretty. Good luck and CONGRATS on your upcoming little bundle!

    • Julie Franklin says

      July 22, 2013 at 4:46 pm

Its Amazing! Front carries from infancy trough back carriers when older. We used the heck out of ours and its VERY easy to use! Good luck!

  17. RArbery says

    July 22, 2013 at 2:34 pm

Definitely like the Ring Sling. Although I will need lots of practice with it. Top rail tightening vs. Bottom rail gets me confused!

I found Instructional DVD too….I will throw it in if someone wants it! There are some great videos out there on line and if you have ANY friends who are baby wearers its the best way to learn too. Good luck!

I LOVED my Maya Wrap Ring Sling!!! I had two and wore Abigail everywhere. I would love to win your giveaway so I could give it as a baby shower gift (my cousin recently announced she’s pregnant).

All your baby wearing pictures are precious!

    • Julie Franklin says

      July 22, 2013 at 1:46 pm

Thanks Jill….I had a blast trying a bunch of different ones. Loved the Buy, Sell, Trade community! I wish I had discovered the Ring Sling from the start…..but SC loved it from 5-7 months. Every day at 4 we walked the neighborhood and she LOVED being face out in that thing all squished up. Miss those days so much!
