The Entertaining Influence of Blogging… The Bounce Back

July 30, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

What’s your dream?  Working in the movies somehow?  Supporting your favorite entertainer and getting rewarded? Being in the know with all the latest entertainment news and releases?

Calling all Criminal Minds Fans…….. and blogging enthusiasts. Here’s an interesting tale about the influence of social media and how its changing things in Hollywood.

How would you like a phone call from Actor/Producer Shemar Moore star of television’s Criminal Minds? Does attending a Criminal Minds screening party with the cast sound fun?  What about being an extra on the set?

Thanks to social media- Blogs, Twitter @bouncebackfilm, Facebook’s Bounce Back Page, these perks and others were revealed to fans of Mr. Moore’s in exchange for helping fund his latest film project “The Bounce Back“.    Through  a publicity campaign using just  40 bloggers, the film project exceeded its goal of $500,000 on Sunday making it the 4th most funded film of all time using crowd funding – an effort to pool resources, usually via the internet to support efforts to a cause or organization. In this case, its funding the film “The Bounce Back”.

How did this happen? Many of the film’s 2000+ contributors are loyal fans of Shemar Moore and of course they want to support him and help him succeed!  In return they get some great perks.   Check out the perk list via Indiegogo.com – act fast though, you have one week left to get these cool perks.

While the campaign attained its initial goal last Sunday, they forge ahead for another week to try to continue to cover costs of film distribution. As a supporter of the film you can share in the journey of getting this film to your local theater.

After previewing this video on the film….um yeah $25 for a Valentine from this guy sounds PRETTY.GOOD.TO.ME.

In the ever changing world of film production and film financing, online crowd-funding is still rare but it is becoming a real force.  The “The Bounce Back” is the latest success story in this new media fund raising forum – the film exceeded its goal of $500,000 on Sunday making it the #4 MOST FUNDED FILMS OF ALL TIME USING CROWDFUNDING.

Who are the top 3??? ….drum roll please!

(as of July 29, 2013 from official Press Release)
1. Veronica Mars Film – Kickstarter – $5.7M – campaign ended 91,585 funders
2. Wish I Were Here – Zach Braff – Kickstarter $3.1 M – campaign ended – 46,520 funders
3. Road Hard – Adam Corrolla – FundAnything $837,5K (campaign still running) – 8,571 funders
4. The Bounce Back Film – Indiegogo – $600K+ (campaign still running) – over 3000 funders
So how did this come to be?  Enter Erica I. Pena-Vest, Founder of Entertainment New Media Network.  The unique approach targeting its audience was to turn to social media and online media influencers to spread their message.

The Bounce Back film recruited 80 bloggers, part of the Entertainment New Media Network, to help their team reach out through online channels throughout the campaign.
“Mr Moore was relatively new to social media and dind’t have much of an online presence.  He’s one of the most popular (and loved) male actors on television but without online reach, many of his fans would not have known about this rare opportunity to partner with him on this project,” stated Erica I Pena-Vest.   “Mr Moore and the uniqueness of this project are why fans and supporters showed up to help fund this film.  We just told them where to find it”.

Is it really any surprise that bloggers know how to reach the right people with information they are looking for?  No surprise to me I mean we bloggers are not just moms typing about food and clothes searching for coupons sitting at the computer while our kids are mindlessly watching TV or playing video games – OK, maybe not ALL the time.

Entertainment New Media Network is making history in Hollywood and showing the power and  influence in social media.  I am excited to have affiliated with this group of amazing talented bloggers. I have always dreamed of a career in entertainment- yeah I know, though talent and drive, never got me there.  This looks like to be as close as I will get and it looks like a blast!  Would you like to be a part of their growing team and make entertainment history?   ENMH is accepting quality blogger applications here to be a part of their network.

So what do you think?  Would you help fund your favorite star’s next project for an autographed photo or phone call from them?  Have you looked at the Perks associated with “The Bounce Back”? Which would you be most likely to get?  I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

ABOUT THE BOUNCE BACK – “The Bounce Back” is a heartfelt romantic comedy about finding the courage to love after love has let you down. It started its crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo on JUNE 11, 2013. The campaign will end Aug 4, 2013 at 11:59PM PST.
