Go, you must. To Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Wars Weekends!
I have been a fan of Star Wars since the original came out in 1977. My room at the time was decorated ceiling to floor with posters and images of the film. To enter my room one was greeted with a sign on the door: “If You Don’t Like the Greatest Movie Ever Made, Star Wars, Don’t Even think of Coming Inside”. Ah, such a little nerd was I.

I was over the moon excited when I realized last spring, our trip to Walt Disney World coincided with Star Wars Weekends. We arrived to MCO and were greeted with this image of Chewy getting out of the super stretch limo and one of my favorite rides.
Going to a Star Wars Weekend is Disney’s Hollywood Studios on steroids…and I mean that in a good way! Hollywood Studios has become a family favorite park at RWFR household so adding theming from our favorite movie from youth….why yes please! You get that the rides and shows that Hollywood Studios has to offer PLUS the magic of Star Wars. Held four weekends in spring, your admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is your ticket to the fun.
The weekend includes celebrity guests and autographs, last year including Billy Dee Williams aka Lando Calrissian. The specially themed parade is complete movie characters and Star Wars Disney Characters – Mickey as Luke, Minnie as Leia, Darth Goofy. There is also a dance party nightly.
Star Wars characters are available for photos and autographs, be warned the lines can get long however some just roam the park so you can get a photo with no wait! They are aplenty though, fans will NOT be disappointed.
All day long SOMETHING is going on the main stage. We were greeted with Boba Fett guarding carbonite frozen Han Solo.
Lots of park guests were dressed up. I felt at times like I was walking the streets of Mos Eisley. My runDisney loving friend Jenn went the same weekend as me and her husband Stormtrooper D had fun taking in all the attractions that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has to offer year round. Thanks for letting me share these photos with my readers Jenn!
Castmembers are always helpful when you need to find something at the park. |

The dates for 2014 weekends have not been announced yet. I have my senses set to Disney Parks Blog to see when I feel a disturbance in the force, or an announcement of the dates for 2014. I will be sure to share.
runDisney, if you are watching, we sure would LOVE a Star Wars Themed race. Wouldn’t that be a fun addition to the weekend? Just sayin’……
As for the day at the park, we were worried about crowds, but that turned out to be wasted energy. Our experience was great. We rode everything, took in the parade, had a nice lunch at Sci Fi Drive-In (of course) and enjoyed Fantasmic. We loved having the extra Star Wars fun thrown in. Thanks Disney!
