Birthday Week: Benihana Dinner

November 5, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Are you into Teppanyaki style cooking?  Mini Me LOVES sitting at the grill to watch the chefs at work preparing her meal with special flair.

Its become a tradition at our homestead to go to Benihana the week of our Birthdays. As members of the Benihana’s Chefs Table, you get $30 to spend around your birthday. Sign up  here.   For our family, it turns out to be not so shabby of a deal since Mini Me eats a side of Chicken Fried Rice as her dinner.  They do have a children’s menu printed on a chefs hat the kids can wear, but our little princess is quite content with the rice which is OK by us – its a cheap dinner.

Benihana features meals cooked at your table on the steel top surface with chefs trained in entertaining customers though theatrical use of the knives and spatula.  Meals come with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer and ice cream for dessert too.  Its truly a fun place to go with the family and quite yummy too – um its all cooked with salt and butter!  They have a sushi bar at the location near us as well and you can order sushi appetizers while you wait for the big show.

Here’s how the show at my birthday turned out!

Our chef chops veggies with flair!
Mushrooms,Zucchini and Yellow Squash with the Onion Volcano  – which turns into a choo choo train!

The Egg Chicken in Chicken Fried Rice! C
Hidden Mickey…Its like the chef knew us!

You sit a big tables so if your party is small, you will be sitting around the grill top with others.  At this meal I splurged with the Filet and it was cooked to melt in your mouth perfection.

A cool thing about Benihana is that they take a digital photo of your party and post it on their website for download. I have loved seeing our family the past few years at our happy Birthday Dinners….I mean normally I am the one taking pictures and always seem to be missing.

Here’s a photo of the RWFR fam…..I am like a deer in headlights!

We love Benihana!  Its a fun place for a special occasion. Sign up for the chef’s table so you get your free meal on your Birthday week!  Oh and FYI, I just posted this – no meals were provided in exchange…we just like the Teppanyaki!  Just wanted to pass along the chef’s table savings to you too.

Have you tried Teppanyaki? What did you think?
