Star Wars Snowflakes: She’s Crafty

December 9, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

No secret, I love me some Star Wars AND I love me some Christmas.  While I am NOT the craftiest person around, though I do have an artistic side, I had to try it out these Star Wars Snowflakes for the Holidays.  Cue the Beasty Boys…and really, you don’t have to be Martha Stewart to have fun with your kids trying to make the coolest snowflakes in the galaxy.

I saw the Star Wars designs on Anthony Herrera Designs…he is so sweet, the templates are on his website for free.  He has a BUNCH out there, so Star Wars fans, get your scissors and exacto knives ready.  While I attempted the Star Wars snowflakes, mini me attempted just your generic coffee filter variety, so we had fun doing these together.

With each snowflake he provides a template to make it pretty easy. You just print it out and follow his online directions for folding and cutting.  The one below is Lando Calrissian….Billy Dee Williams fans unite!

On the Anthony Herrera design site, he gives you specific instructions on how to Fold Your Template, Fold It.

Then you cut out ALL the dark areas – scissors or exacto knife, yeah be gone Dark Side!   I had no issues with the scissors, but my exacto though new, not the best.  Hey I spent $5 on it.  It was not exacto-ly easy cutting through 16 layers of paper…um see what I did there?
Princess Leia is below, I had a Dickens of a time getting out her facial features.  Hey life is not perfect, it is what it is…she looks like an Alien to me.

I tried the C-3PO Droid and well like the queen of hearts, I cut off his head…it was an accident I promise. I could totally use a droid around the house.
THEN  I tried Lando, after the Princes Leia face fiasco, I decided to draw on the eyes….but you know what, to me its like a purple haze and Jimmy Hendrix.  #TooMuchHeadband
Yoda  he was the best I think…though a part of me thinks its a little Gizmo looking.
What do you think?  I am telling you the face – eyes especially are hard. Are you feeling the Force Strong within to try one of these out?

I’m dying at your descriptions. If you had just posted the snowflakes I would have been totally impressed, but the write up had me rolling. You rocked it. May the force be with you, J!
