Here we are at Tinker Bell Half Weekend and I sit at home. So many of my running friends are on the way or enjoying the magic at the happiest place on earth right now. I tried everything I could to make this race – it was on the books unofficially until runDisney announced the Glass Slipper Challenge with Princess Half Weekend. Then I had to choose one. I went with Glass Slipper Challenge.
Alas, sometimes you just cannot #RunAllTheRaces, life can get in the way. When I realized I would not be able to make this weekend…..believe me I tried, I was mad, sad, and jealous, but eventually content in knowing it would be there next year. AND then runDisney announced the race would be moving, my heart dropped – and opened those wounds back up.
I know its not all about me, but I cannot go Mother’s Day 2015 and quite frankly, with me preferring my race weekends be girls only, I can say this race will probably not happen for me probably ever on MOTHER’S Day . Insert Sad face. Oh well, I guess I am more of a princess than fairy anyhoo. I do admit, I have been a little down to be out of the pre-race action this week: no costume planning, park planning, a first trip to Disneyland with the broads.
BUT never fear, this morning I got a shout out from OBRF DisBroad Amy in her post at Mom’s Magical Miles. Awww….

Next I get a message from a runner friend offered to #run3rd this weekend in Caleb’s memory. This made me cry in a good way – thanks Sarah!
I am putting together my run3rd dedications for Tink and I was wondering if it was okay if I included Caleb. I always think of your son when I run and just wanted to make it official this time. Hope all is well with you.
Then I saw DisBroad April’s pic of Flat Julie who will be making the rounds at Disneyland this weekend.
How can I be sorry for myself or grumpy with friends like these. To all my DisBroad friends, blogging runner friends, and Facebook /Twitter runner friends….
To all those at Disneyland this weekend, I wish you an amazing race filled with loads of Pixie Dust. I will be following along and cheering y’all on with:

Tink seems to be the step-child of the Disney races. I love it so much, but it seems like almost an afterthought in many respects. I’d wager that it won’t stay on Mother’s Day weekend. They may do that once to see how it plays out, then move it to another date in May. I was in the park on Father’s Day last year and it was pretty crowded. I can’t imagine how it gets on Mother’s Day…and they think they’re gonna shovel out the runners to make way for regular crowds on a day like that? I’m watching with much interest…

Its Ballet Recital weekend among other things….. I can’t skip that!

What fun, sweet friends you have! When I had to defer GSC this year–leaving me with no runDisney races on the books for 2014–I just wanted to cry. But it is fun to live vicariously through the pictures and recaps and cheer everyone on from home.
Julie Franklin says
Yep, so blessed. I know I need to have ONE paid for race at all times LOL.
Meridith says
Oh, Julie. I hear you, my friend. I have friends at Tink this weekend. And then everyone in the free world (okay, not really but it sure feels that way) will be at Princess. I? Will not. But I WILL be at Dumbo Double Dare so I just keep reminding myself that my time will come. But until then, I’ll head to my running clinic tomorrow and enjoy the company of people here! 🙂 xo
Julie Franklin says
Yep, just have to enjoy what we have. Just can’t afford all the races and being away from the family so much. the airfares have NOT been kind this year east to west coast! I want to do DDD….but doubting that will happen. Hoping to give TOT a try or do W&D again…loved that weekend!
