I signed up for the runDisney Tower of Terror 2014 race this week. This will be my first time running this night race at Walt Disney World. It will also be my FIRST race I run as a 50 year old….eep I am getting old. Good thing I have such a youthful disposition, right?
This race was SO low on my radar, really – 10 miles in Late September/Early October in Orlando? UM – holy humidity Batman no thanks. Never say never. Last year, the twitter feed was on fire during the race. It sounded like a blast and there’s an after party at Disney Hollywood Studios.
The race merchandise with my favorite alien Stitch, LOVE IT. Lets be honest, it will be a nice change from all The Princess Half Marathon merchandise I have. #ChangeIsGood. While the heat and humidity have kept me away in the past, I had a light bulb moment: how much different or harder can this be from the hilly Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta every Fourth of July? Sure its longer, but MUCH less in the hills. #IGotThis so I signed up!
The medal is just the coolest…. really, the elevator drops and everything. Can’t wait to get it.
I am SO exited as my Disbroads friends Kristen, Patty, Suzanne and Tania have signed up too! Always fun seeing friends at races!
If you will be there too, my friend Jennifer Greene at Destinations in Florida has a block of rooms at GREAT savings All Star Music, Port Orleans Riverside and Wilderness Lodge – FABULOUS rates really. You can also get discounted park tickets through her block and add on the dining plan – which the dining plan is at full rate, but oh well on that one, saving on room and tickets..that’s good, right? To get a quote for TOT Weekend contact Jenn for your Tower of Terror race vacation quote.
Are you in? Which runDisney race is next on your signup list? Now I wait for the Marathon signup!

I would love to run all of the races if I could. 🙂 I am in for the Dumbo Double Dare this August though… and just did the half in DW in Jan. I am interning in this fall and can’t leave anywhere to get to any races. 🙁 So, I am hoping for the Goofy this time next Jan when I can get away again!

My husband and I are both in as well…very nervous, because I’m a new runner. It will be my first race (unless I try to get one in around here just for experience). Looking forward to it!
Julie Franklin says
Kelli, just train and you will be fine…REALLY. 🙂
Disney races are a blast.
Suzanne says
So so so excited for this one. I’ve had it on my list for awhile, so I’m glad I’ll be able to cross this one off. I still can’t believe how easily things fell in place for this race. Did I mention I’m excited?
Julie Franklin says
I know….its gonna ROCK!
Summer I says
I want to do this race one of these years, but I don’t see this year being it. 🙁
Julie Franklin says
I totally get that Summer…can’t do all the races…not in my budget. So excited about this one though.
HALFway to the CASTle says
We’re in as well for both the 5k and 10 miler ! It’s our first time at TOT weekend; we can’t wait to try a new race!
Julie Franklin says
Yep, I can’t wait either. I enjoyed W&D so much, I think I will really like this one!

I’m in along with my husband–this will be his first race longer than 10km!
Julie Franklin says
I with my husband would do this race…..but oh well, he is not a runner. His longest was the 10k on the Fourth of July and he was like um I’m good..you can be the runner.
Fairytales and Fitness says
Yup! I’m in too! It will be my first TOT and my first night race! Will you be doing the haunted trail run too?
Julie Franklin says
I doubt it…I rather enjoyed taking it easy the day of Wine and Dine. Yay, for running with blogging buds!
