Getting In Vacation Runs at Hilton Head Island South Carolina

April 9, 2014 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Anyone else struggle with getting training runs in while on vacation?  Yeah any excuse right.  Why is it so hard to get out the door…I know because I love sleeping in on vacation. Sigh.

We love Hilton Head Island SC. Its a great place for family fun. Developed BUT not overly so and every effort made to preserve the natural beauty of the low country.  Our preferred place to stay is Sea Pines rent from the resort or go to VBRO.  LOVE the Sea Pines bike paths – but really there are bike paths ALL over Hilton Head Island.  There are rentals of all budgets Hilton Head Island too.

The bike paths make it so easy to get some exercise in, whether biking OR running while avoiding traffic. LOVE IT.

Bike paths aplenty for runners and walkers; steering you to the sites. SO many great ones here at Sea Pines Resort.

The serenity of the old oaks pines and Spanish moss – I love how preserved this area is.   The paths are nicely shaded by the canopy of mature trees.

There are lakes and canals but be careful alligators are natural to this area.

NOT on zoom!
Really they seem harmless, but can move fast so just leave them alone.  Keep you eyes peeled though they are in the canals too like this baby – big mama was no where in sight.

It’s great to be able to get my exercise in such beautiful natural scenery and the new sites are welcome.  Next, I am going to try the beach since its nice and flat and packed down sand truth be told, its a bit of a vacation on vacation from the family for me. Alone time is good.

Its not often I get to run ocean side, I need to take advantage of it while on vacay you know? The waves crashing, the breeze from the sea, so calming. Great scenery for me makes running fun.
Vacation running is a great way to stay on track with training and for me to work off that Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie With Bacon Graham Cracker Crust.  We might have had the Triple B chips for dinner too. So bad but oh so good too, thanks One Hot Mamas for giving me the need to run.
I have added this post to “Tuesdays on the Run” Linkup topic “Vacation Running”.  To view more great posts on running on vacation, go to No Guilt Life and join the link up!
