Disclosure: As a Jost Running Blogger I was provided with Virtual Race Entry at no cost. All opinions are 100% my own. Its no secret I am a huge fan of this company and what they do!
When I was single, I used to laugh at all the busy parents in the month of May – making it to recitals, playoffs, tournaments, awards ceremonies, end of school year parties, starting swim team…and the list goes on and on. I have had every excuse not to run, really I have been swamped and was sick at the beginning of the month. As a Jost Running blogger, I signed up to participate in the Jost Running Virtual Racing Series for May and was beginning to doubt I would get any runs complete but I finally did it this week. Sadly, it was ONLY a 5k, but you know what, with the month I have had – between allergies/virus and the business of Mom may, I am so happy I got it in – hey change that thought process….I RAN A 5k THIS MONTH AND I got an amazing medal to for my efforts.
I discovered the joys of virtual racing last year and posted about my first virtual race here. Run your own race on your own schedule sometime during the month, you pick your route AND log your results on the Jost Running Page and get your bling. What’s not to love?
Two things drew me to Jost Running whom I met via my various social media channels:
1. Each Month They Donate of Portion of Proceeds to Charity
This month the charity benefitting from race entry is ALS.
2. The support of runners of ALL ages, abilities, paces and running styles.
Gorgeous bling is a fun incentive and they really have some great designs! They got started to help encourage all runners. Along with the 5k/10k Medal, they had this Half/Full Marathon Medal….which I did not earn this month, but hey, isn’t it a beaut. BIG medals too!
Once you register for a Jost Running race on their website, you just log in and you can print out your bib….custom too!
You can see the print bib button on the log in page for the race you have signed up for. Once your run is complete, you enter your time and you can see how you did against all the others who ran. I am not super competitive, but its fun to see how you did compared to the others. Here’s a screen shot of where you enter and the results are listed.
Here’s my Brave New Wolrd 5k Recap….its brief, as I decided to just run and NOT take photos this go round. I decided to take a brave new route from my home. I simply went out 1.55 miles on the old Garmin a way I generally avoid and then came back. I did my usual walk for 3 minutes then 30 second run/walk intervals, I felt good at this pace. Sure its not the fastest, but it was good for me. As a bonus, I discovered a new route. And while this is a ho hum recap, I am not kidding, it a miracle I got out there. But it was good to be back. The first half I was dragging and the second, I felt great. Trust me, I was NOT into running at all but knowing I would get my bling, well that made it all worth the while……especially for a 5k which generally IF they have bling are small and plastic. My medal is a reminder now…go discover some new places to run.
If you are a fan of the Race Bling or know of any bling lovers…..go like Jost Running on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. They always preview the next month’s medals….. um hello, June’s them is CRANK IT UP! Two Turntables and a microphone anyone?
Its race season here in Georgia and well, its good to have that extra incentive for those longer training runs, AND dare I say short ones too! If you have a friend who is JUST starting running, sign up for a race together. A medal is a fun way to celebrate the accomplishment! If you sign up for June, I would LOVE to share your race photos in my race recap post.
Truly fun medals…you can see some of my Jost Running medals on my Runner’s Wall Medal Display Review (the Hot Dog, Soaring Plane, and Oktoberfest Medas)l on far left of photo. By the way, GREAT way to display your Jost Running bling – looks like I need a new display myself.
Have you run any Virtual Races? How do these BRAVE NEW WORLD and CRANK IT UP MEDALS look to you?
