Yesterday, the runDisney 2015 Princess Half Marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge sold out within 2 hours of registration opening. If you still want to sign up, here’s how to register for it or any sold out runDisney race.
Once sold out, you have 2 options….Run with a Charity or via a Travel Partner.
To gain access to information on ANY runDisney Race with either of these options, just start at the Event Registration screen.
Option 1: Register through a Charity Group
Select charity groups have teams in which you can train and fund raise for their charity. By participating on their team, you get your race registration fees covered.
To get information about which teams are participating, click on “Charity Teams” from the event’s “Registration” Menu as illustrated below for 2015 Princess Half. Each charity has different programs and levels needed to fund raise. Some offer local training programs included with the program. Fundraising levels vary by charity and can cover race fees only, race fees plus room for select number of nights, and race fees plus room AND transportation to and from airport.
Once you have clicked on “Charity Groups”, you will be taken to a screen showing a list of groups fundraising for this particular race with links to take you to their information page. You can go to each group to view what the requirements are or request more information.
OPTION 2: Purchase Your Registration Through a Travel Partner
You will probably need to purchase a room and/or ticket package with your travel provider….but hey, its a host hotel so you will NOT need to worry about transportation to and from the resort to race! Transportation from the Orlando Airport to your hotel is probably covered as well if you purchase a package with a hotel.
Option 3: Buy a Bib From Someone Who Was Able to Register
To set the record straight….NO Bib for you, this is NOT an option. runDisney has recently changed the rules for bib pickup during race weekend. Person who name is on the entry registration must show up in person to pickup with photo identification. Unlike in the past, you cannot give your picture ID to someone to pick up your bib “for you”, which in many cases was someone had sold their bib personally and provided a copy of ID to person who purchased. runDisney does NOT nor have they ever allowed bib transfers, so if you pay for a race and cannot attend, your only options are
- Defer to the following year for a fee
- Don’t run and lose your money
Do not listen to the Monty Hall’s of the world trying to make a deal…its just not an option.BUT if the race is SOLD OUT its still not all doom and gloom, you can fund raise or pay a travel partner.
Keep in mind both of these options whether Charity or Travel Partner, there are a limited number of registrations available The upside to these options, you can avoid the ACTIVE registration fees, making the race fee itself a little bit hey, discounted and that is a good thing!
Have you run a runDisney Race through a Travel Provider or Charity? Would love to hear about it.
