Back in my day, the biggest worry about Halloween was the old razor in the apple or pop rocks exploding in your stomach. These days we are so connected online as a mom I have begun to worry about what I post on my social networks. I now have had 3 friends who have had someone take photos of their children and create fake Facebook accounts, saying the photos taken were there own children. Yeah, scarier to me than zombies or witches. Because so many of us are posting our Throw Back Thursday photos of old costumes, I thought it would be helpful to post some online safety tips for Halloween I received from KidsLink, the App For Moms.
A couple of years ago when I did the obligatory halloween costume photo in front of our home, I started to make sure our street numbers were not showing. I have become afraid of some of the “privacy” setting on social media apps like Facebook since it seems when you post something it belongs to THEM and not you. This is sad as I started using Facebook back in the day as a method to communicate photos and events in our family to our family out of town. After the third instance recently of a friend whose children’s photos were taken and set up as another user’s children, I decided that was it and I am certainly much less likely to share information than I used to.
I found KidsLink, the App for Moms and decided its the way to go for sharing information with my family. Best thing, its FREE. In your Dashboard, you can add moments and milestones easily to securely share with YOUR private network only. The information you add to your dashboard is NOT owned by KidsLink, its YOURS.
There is alot more to this app to keep busy moms organized too…oh yes, I need that. You can also load in documents for storage and easy retrieval like report cards, doctor forms, etc. Once stored if you need to access the form later you can just email it the school or coach. You can also save scans of artwork in your account. I am the worst with knowing how to store paperwork so this appealed to me! AND you can set up reminders for appointments or dates to remember regarding your kids.
I like this app so much, I signed up to be an affiliate partner. If you want to try it out, Download KidsLink at https://mykidslink.com/install and use redeem code RUNWALK. Yes my redeem code is my affiliation, but you need an invite right now to get the app. If you use my redeem code, to be upfront, I will be compensated for the referral, this app is FREE to you.
Here a one minute video from our local news about the app:

Hopefully the piles of paperwork clutter in the disorganized state that seems to be my life will soon get vanish. I will let you know how it goes and keep you posted. Let me know if this sounds like something you would be interested in.
Sound like something you might be interested in? Are you more intrigued by the secure community aspect or the storage of documents and artwork?
