As an ambassador of the April 2nd 2016 Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5k, I was provided a preview of the New Balance gear available at the Fashion and Fitness Race Expo. Now I must disclose I LOVE New Balance clothing and shoes, as a matter of fact, I have been wearing it since the Atlanta Half back in 2000! A race weekend with about 2200 participants, I am excited about the unique Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5k New Balance gear and expo.
New Balance is an official sponsor of the race, they will have a shop at the expo featuring gear and shoes along with official race merchandise including what I received. I am in LOVE with my New Balance clothes as they are super lightweight and they hold up so well. As someone who perspires frequently and heavily, to put it mildly, I find the clothes breathe and guess what else – modify the stink. There are antimicrobial treatments to help with the odor that exercise gear can get. The fabric lets you stay dry, stink free and cool!
I received the Ice Short Sleeved Shirt and Impact Capris in a beautiful and bright color called Dragonfly! Both are very cool – literally, with mesh inserts on both the top back of the shirt and the back of knees on capris. The shirt is vented at the top to let the cool in and the heat out. Last year, the Ice Short Sleeved Shirt was one of the official race shirts for sale with the race logo on it…though they also had a great variety of generic New Balance gear too.
Finally my shoes- I received the Fresh Foam 1080’s which I must say are super cushy! They have some support which works for me too, I need a little sumpin’ in my shoes – but this is more a neutral shoe with some support IMO. I love the wide toe box too and they are so lightweight. Did I mention they are bright – which I love. Dragonfly is my color!
The New Balance Fashion Fitness Race Expo is like no other I have been too. YES they have the New Balance Gear – really its a mini store, and they also have race supplies available from Fleet Feet Sports. So never fear if you forget something, they have it at the expo. They also showcase a selection of local items including hand made soap, cookies, chocolates, salts and spices. I purchased a few things for myself, bought some cookies and cheese straws for the family, and fell in love with Himalayan Sea Salt – though I did not purchase the salt shot glass….but I am tempted this year.
The expo is not overwhelming at all since the race is around 2200 so its easy breezy pickup of your race bib and swag including the New Balance tote bag. Fun to shop too!
I am looking forward to running the half and this year my family will be doing the 5k – its hard to pass up scenic flat race courses for them! Last year I was featured in a short video about why I think you should run Savannah FYI this video is from 2015, 2016 Race Is April 2nd:
Its not too late to get in the race, register here and you can save $10 on either the half or 5k with my ambassador code RWR10.
What do you think of the New Balance Gear? Do you prefer bright colors or cool neutrals – which they have those too!
