This week I got all excited when I saw on several websites that Netflix had the rights to stream every single Disney movie made. OK excited AND concerned, about the potential for some serious Disney Movie Marathons and lack of productivity otherwise during said marathons. With a little research, I found while YES Netflix is going to have some exclusive pay per view rights to Disney movies, they will NOT be streaming the entire Disney movie catalog. Sad face.
Netflix announced from September 2016 onward, they will become the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films released after 2016 from Disney including Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar. Hey that is good stuff there, right? While YES we would LOVE to be able to stream on demand every single Disney movie ever made, perhaps its a good thing. I know my productivity and the state of my house, would surely suffer, OK suffer more. And Netflix knows it just can’t let that happen. OK in my mind they do, but come on, with original shows including my favorites Orange it the New Black, Bloodline, Grace and Frankie and House of Cards, sometimes I needed a little chill in my life and they have delivered. Thank you Netflix, the laundry could have indeed waited and you are so much cheaper than cable.
I suppose last week when Netflix announced its summer lineup, people got confused. Keep in mind the Disney movies will start in September for paid subscribers, and the final list to be available has NOT yet been revealed. Oh and for you fans of a certain other park in Orlando you can get all nostalgic this summer watching Jurassic Park and Back to the Future – remember that ride?
Regarding the Disney movie news and it not being every single movie, I know, there are some sad faces out there. Please don’t despair. September is coming, plenty of great new Disney entertainment out there and hey, there is also this guy to keep us calm til then.
