November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month – Keeping Your Lungs Healthy
I lost my brother-in-law to lung cancer 2 years ago this Christmas. It was a huge loss for our family, as Phil was our families rock. I first met Phil when I was about 11 or 12.He was my mentor, my former boss, and in my single days, he invited me on many a family vacation. He was diagnosed and had part of a lung removed. He fought his cancer and enjoyed life best he could. He had always been a big kid. Here is a photo of me, Phil and my sister from a family Christmas in 2011. He passed away … [Read More...]
runDisney Princess Half Weekend Medals Revealed, Its FROZEN!
runDisney revealed the 2015 Princess Half Marathon Weekend Medals today. Its gonna be a Frozen themed weekend it appears. I love them! Well the ribbon on the half medal has me wondering, but usually the official photos don't quite do justice to the full package. Wishing I was doing the 5k or Mini Me was doing a kids race. The medals are similar to last year, but a snowflake, extra glitter and the Frozen them makes me happy, since well its been the year of Anna and Elsa. Makes me wonder if … [Read More...]
Virtual Run Your Own Race 5k For Girls On The Run
Race bling is a huge motivator and a badge of pride. I love my first Princess Half Medal; I struggled with Plantar Fasciitis on that course and have never been so proud I finished a race. I love virtual races. Sometimes for a long training run, or running when temperatures are not ideal, a little bling is a GREAT motivator and reward. My friend and fellow ENELL ambassador Jill at Running With Curves is hosting a Virtual 5k in January - Run Your Own Race. Its complete with a some glittery bling … [Read More...]
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Dooney and Bourke Bags for 2015
OMG....runDisney posted pics of the 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Dooney and Bourke Bags and I think I am in love. A fun design with park weenies aka Icons and race mascots for each distance over the weekend. This style is my favorite and you can see the detail in the design: Sad to see the Sorcerer's Hat is gone, but oh well, that is progress. One of my favorite designs of these bags to date. There is NO year on these, so wondering if these will be availble next year....don't … [Read More...]

When Your Child’s STEM Class Lesson Ends Up At the Toilet
Yesterday Mini Me was excited about her visit to her school's STEM Lab - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. As a mom who went to a school a bunch of Engineers and Scientists at Georgia Tech, I love hearing about the STEM lab. There is after all a nerd inside of me. One of the things covered yesterday: making a short film through an app. Hey it sounded fun to me and Mini Me loved it so much, she used her money to purchase the app which made all the magic happen at school. ChatterPIX is an … [Read More...]
Prepare for Running in Cold – The I Do Not Want to Do It LONG Training Run
Is your weather person lately a villain? Mine is. With yesterday's long run scheduled of 13 miles, I was already in my funk. Remember, I like getting up to 10 miles followed by BAM... taper time. Sadly, not at the taper yet..this weekend was 13 miles. When I checked the forecast, I got the bad news...wind chill of 24 here in Atlanta and its only November. I was totally dreading the long run in the cold - with no medal at the end either. How did I get over it? Here are the steps I took to … [Read More...]
Super Easy Big Hero Six Baymax Cookies
Mini me is in LOVE with Big Hero Six and she wants her own personal Baymax....I mean who doesn't? I had an idea for some EASY cookies and asked her if she wanted to make some Baymax cookies. Of course she said YES. While I would love to get out the Kitchen-aid and whip up some home made goodness of butter cookies, we just didn't have time yesterday. I picked up these at the store and let me tell you, they are yummy if you like pumpkin. Really you can pick any flavor, this is what Mini Me … [Read More...]
