Losing Mojo Mid-Run and Getting It Back To Finish Strong
Last weekend's long training run called for 10 miles. This is ususally the max distance I train up to for half marathons - sometimes I add a mile walk after the 10. Usually I approach this distance with relief in my training, but last weekend it was more like dread as its only HALF of the longest distance I will be running to train for the Walt Disney World Full Marathon I am running in January. Despite a lingering feeling I am fighting "WHY DID YOU SIGN UP FOR FULL?", the run started out … [Read More...]
Introducing Capitol Kids! Uplifting Music For Kids By Kids
I received the Capitol Kids! Hits as a member of the Entertainment New Media Network. No further compensation was received and all opinions are my own. This post may also contain affiliate links. I love ALL kinds of music. It makes me happy to see that Mini Me has picked up the love too. As a Life Teen Leader at church back in my single days, I added a love of Contemporary Christian Music. I will admit it, in my youth, I thought those type of songs were for THOSE type of people and it wasn't … [Read More...]

Online Safety Tips for Halloween – KidsLink to the Rescue
Back in my day, the biggest worry about Halloween was the old razor in the apple or pop rocks exploding in your stomach. These days we are so connected online as a mom I have begun to worry about what I post on my social networks. I now have had 3 friends who have had someone take photos of their children and create fake Facebook accounts, saying the photos taken were there own children. Yeah, scarier to me than zombies or witches. Because so many of us are posting our Throw Back Thursday … [Read More...]
Keeping Family Together and Prepared in Times of Disaster
Two years ago today Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the U.S, and wreaked havoc - affecting 24 states, taking 162 lives, costing more than $50 million in damage, destroying 650,000 homes and hundreds of child care centers and schools. I can only imagine how hard it was for the families and thousands of children who suddenly lost everything, especially their sense of stability. The photo above shows 4 year old Didi in a New Jersey Shelter Save the Children Child Friendly Space post Sandy. … [Read More...]
Monday Marathon Meme Mania
So in my Marathon training for January this past weekend, I lucked out with the short run of four miles on training. YAY. I have to admit, I am starting to really get scared as I don't normally train more than 11 miles with a half marathon and well this coming weekend we ramp it back up at 10 and will keep adding. To calm my nerves this morning, I decided to look up some Marathon and Running Memes. I have been having huge issues lately with motivation: AND my favorite part of the training … [Read More...]

My Mix Tape, They’re Playing “Our Song”
We are in LOVE with the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Volume 1 Soundtrack, its Mini Me's favorite tuneage - really she just wants to hear Come and Get Your Love . One of the tracks on the CD is Elvin Bishop "Fooled Around and Fell In Love". This is a sweet and special song to me as it is my Sister and her husband's "song". They were so young when they got married and it was a time when AM Gold songs dominated. Hearing this classic made me thing of my "our song" with Mr. RWR. See. We met … [Read More...]
October 15th is National Infant and Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day
I might be incompetent, but we will never truly be able to tell for sure. Really, I am talking about my cervix. In 2004 I went into premature labor at 23 weeks. We do not know why. My baby's foot was in my birth canal and I was dilated 4 cm with contractions 4 minutes apart when I got to the hospital. With the assistance of CRAZY drug known as "slow mag", the contractions stopped and I waited to see how long my sweet little first born could stay in my belly. I hadn't been doing drugs, was … [Read More...]
