Hey Remember Me….Still on track

January 18, 2012 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

So only 39 days until the Princess 1/2 and I am on track well kind of.

It has been AGES since I posted and I did go to the sports doc. I have  Posterior Tendinitis in my left food.  This has been causing the tightness in my ankle and the soreness in my arch.  My doctor gave me some stretches and told me I could go have a gait analysis and work with a coach which I chose not to do.  To be fair the doctor told me that was totally up to me.

December came and went….I got slack and pretty much stopped training.  Truth is every time I would have a twitch I was scared, so I just eased off.

Since then  have been doing great in my training……got up to 9 miles in my long run last weekend. I did my 1 minute run – 1 minute walk intervals for 8 miles then walked the last mile as a cool down.  Problem is in mile 5, I kind of twisted my ankle.  No immediate pain and I didn’t fall down, but yesterday my knee was bothering me.

My calves have been tight and that Tibial Tendon has some soreness for sure.  I got 30 minutes in yesterday – a nice slow pace and did some yoga.  I am supposed to run tomorrow, but thinking I might give the calves, shins, tendons, feet and that whole left are a little more recovery time from the 9 miler.

My next long run is the weekend of the 28th where I will go for 9 mile run, 1 miles cool down walk.  Honestly, this distance is as far as I am going to train for the race.  I am very scared about injuring myself prior, but then again, I don’t want to be taken off the course on a stretcher, so thinking about what my long run on Feb 11th weekend will be.  I got up to 11 miles last year before my injury in January and basically do no training after that and I finished, so not too worried….heck I can walk alot of it if need be!

The funny thing is my cardio has gotten strong again and I could go faster or further, but my feet legs and muscles are telling me to take it easy!

But being the race is at Disney all kinds of fun stuff to plan, what who to run as….simple costume – nothing too hot or heavy.  Right now leaning towards Mulan or Belle.  I am really starting to get excited about the trip as well……….mommy needs some ME time.

My goal is to finish the race injury free……..hoping I can look good in the process as well.
