St Pat’s Dinner

March 17, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Spot the Hidden Mickey!  Beef, Bacon, Beer…hold on y’all!

I am not much of a cook, I mean I like it, but I am kind of a klutz. I found this guys’s blog – Kevin with Closet Cooking via a friend of mine – Thanks Ter!  He makes really good stuff…granted, I think he is going to have  a heart attack if he eats all this stuff…but one year I was looking to make something a tad different and came across this recipe for “Steak and Guinness Pie”.  Whats not to love, I like both the meat and the beverage.

So I cooked up some real bacon…not of the turkey variety and then browned my steak in the grease.  Bacon + Steak…its a good thing.

My oh my our house smelled good!

THEN you put your bacon beef aside and  add you know the HEALTHY stuff to the pan the veggies, though those bacon drippings sure take the health factor away.  After your veggies are tender GARLIC! Yes, its heart healthy!

Next you have to deglaze that pan….its GUINNESS TIME!…..

After this you put your bacon back in..whose grease is giving your meat its flavor, the meet and well the other stuff – spices and such.  Cook it on low for 2-3 hours to make it nice and tender.  Oh your house will smell delish too.

Then throw it in a pie crust, put some cheddar on it and top it off with – yep the pie crust.  FYI, I don’t make my own pie crust…aintnobodygottimeforthat …. they have it in the freezer you know.

While I would love to show you my finished product…its till cooking and hey wanted to say Happy St Pat’s Day. Seriously, next year if you want a little sumpthin different from Corned Beef and Cabbage…HIGHLY rec this.  We had it last year, its AMAZING!

Thank Kevin for all your wonderful recipes.  They boy likes Guinness and Chocolate so check out his blog for all kinds of goodness!  Dude can make a mean grilled cheese too…so many cool variations!

Yeah, I know NOT a cooking blog, but we love to celebrate St Pat’s Day and we gotta eat too!

Thanks Ter! Kevin at Closet Cooking really does have some great recipes…… thank for directing me to him. This Pie is REALLY tasty….it is not hard, just takes a long time to cook…I mean really…. cook some bacon, brown some steak pieces, cook your veggies, put it all together…cook it like 2 hours then throw it in a pie shell and cook it 30 more mintes. SO delish, totally worth it…
