Go Get Your Greens Ready! May 1st is coming….

April 29, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Last year we joined Netflix after we downgraded our cable and I found myself watching lots of documentaries.  Trying to get healthier, I discovered 2 gems, “Food Matters” and “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead”.

Through both of these, I discovered the benefits and healing powers of good old natural food the way nature provides. Fat Sick and Nearly Dead is a very entertaining look at the power of juicing – fresh fruits and veggie.

Following the viewing of these I made some changes to what I eat…..I even incorporated juicing to my diet when I purchased my Breville juicer and discovered the joys of getting micro nutrients from fresh juice into your body.

The famous Joe Cross Mean Green Juice

Was I perfect and made a complete lifestyle change….well no, I am human and can get addicted to the junk and need to focus back on getting the healthy stuff into my body.

I saw this challenge on the Food Matters FaceBook Pace and decided to go for it. Now if you don’t have a juicer, or are not interested in one…why not just throw some greens in your smoothies and blend them up…..spinach, kale, lots of options!

Blending vs Juicing Which is Best?  Here is the 411. Both are good…., just eat more greens mmmm’kay?  You can drink them too!

Here’s the challenge complete with some recipes, if these don’t look good…GOOGLE Green Juice. Be careful juicing newbies….some people cannot stand celery, if this is a problem….throw in another apple is my advice. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Juicing……get you shopping and planning done…check in on Wednesday May 1st!

I love juicing, but have been too scared to try greens. I’m not a veggie lover so I would hate to waste fruit if I wont drink it because of the greens, but just for you I will add some spinach tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been making A LOT of green smoothies lately and have decided to take it up a notch and join the Love Your Greens 30 Day Challenge by UnconventionalKitchen.com…so why not add a bit more to my shopping list and also juice for the 1st 7 days? I’m in. I tried juicing a year or so ago and failed miserably. Hopefully I like these recipes better, thanks for the apple tip!

Jill, Pineapple is another GREAT icky taste cover upper. ๐Ÿ˜‰ My favorite juice last year….. Pineapple, Broccoli Spear and greens. THEN you can roast the broccoli heads! I love when I juice, but it did take some trial and error to get used to it or totally delish!Pineapple in any juice…YUMMY. Also Ginger is good too…. I wish I had the more expensive juicer…but oh well…I love my Breville! Juice On!
