Squatters, Right? 30 Day Challenge

April 26, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Kudos to the RWFRers in the middle of the 30 Day Squat.  We are on day 12…. a day of rest!

My body can use all the help it can get…. and I know from my half marathon training the key is consistency and for distance and stamina, you just build a little more at a time, gradually until you are running distances and a pace you never thought possible.

About 12 days ago I saw this on FB – and thought with my running philosophy – start small and build gradually, I could do things for my quads and bottom that needed firming up:

This chart came from Coach Samm’s page on FB.   Apparently Coach Samm is a Beachbody Coach and Health and Fitness Coach.  I saw Coach Samm, I am in NO way affiliated with her or Beachbody..though I do own a couple DVD’s from this company…great workouts. Oh I liked her page, she has some good stuff on there.

I saw the chart and following instructions on my friend and super mom Catherine’s page with Coach Samm’s instructions:

“Are you doing the daily squat challenge? I challenge you to invite 5 of your friends to do it with you start on day one and just finish on may 8th 🙂 Hit the share button and get everyone involved. I’ve said it once and I will say it again! If you don’t squeeze it no one will! 🙂 Hit that share button and lets get moving :)”
I accepted Catherine’s challenge and of course I shared it on my RWFR Facebook Page to see if I too could get 5 suckers, I mean people, in need of some squats and  support.  Lo and behold…… my people followed me and the 30 Day RWFR Squat Challenge Began!
The image below was from Coach Samm’s page, which cracked me up, cuz um this song does NOT motivate me….AT.ALL…. lesson learned from the Princess Half Marathon.

My people are on day 12…I just finished my 110 squats yesterday on day 11.  Today, Friday, we rest!
I will say, I am noticing my balance has improved on these in just 11 days and now I can whip out 30 at a time pretty well – IE, no wobble.  Started with sets of 10, then 20 now at 30.  We get up to 250 at the end of the challenge and I am DOING IT!
If you weren’t with us from the beginning, go ahead, join us and just start from day 1!
I am having so much fun with this, more challenges will be on the way!  I am trying to get and stay  healthy  and find little changes like this really can make a difference to develop good habits.  If you can’t do a full squat, do a half one for this challenge…its all good!
Next challenge……lets get some greens in our systems!  Be on the lookout!
Happy Squatting!

Remember: Before starting this or any workout program, its a good idea to see your doctor.

I decided this week to link up with Running Bloggers Fitness Friday Linkup…..check out some other blogs for some great motivation to get fit!

Found ya through Fitness Friday and my legs are quivering just reading about the squat challenge! I don’t know if I could ever do that many squats on one day! Anyhow, from one interval runner to another I’m looking forward to following along!
