I can give you all kinds of excuses:
Change of Schedule
Swim Team Craziness
But the truth is my lack of running or exercising has NOTHING to do with an excuse. Its a choice I make everyday that I will or won’t get something done – whether running or core or strength training.
I decide my fate and I make the priorities in my day.
I felt great when I ran this weekend the first time in a long time. I discovered the High School track 1 mile from my house is always open. Yeah, I admit it never ran there before, nice discovery though!
This morning I was out checking on our sad little garden and noticed something in the bed we are prepping for fall with our Hugelkultur bed.
We go into hugelkultur when we had several downed trees and didn’t want to pay to have them hauled off. Bonus, exercise chopping the wood and you get GREAT garden soil. Seriously that chopping was better than the gym.
THIS is what I saw – a vine and some pretty yellow flowers. I thought hmmm Squash- we mix compost in there too so who know what kind of seeds are in that big old pile of dirt and logs!
Mr RWFR told me it was pumpkin from when we buried our Jack O Lantern after Halloween! Pretty flower – and lots more coming. That IS some healthy soil this thing is growing like crazy.
WOW, my pumpkin carriage is in the making. Good thing, I have the Glass Slipper Challenge to work towards! Not to mention a few other races! Hmm there is a pineapple top buried in there too, maybe a trip to Hawaii in my future?
This week I vow to get in my 3 runs and 3 days of cross training. I am looking at another 30 day challenge since I petered out during vacation – yeah I know an excuse. It starts with me and I am making this a priority, despite another busy summer week. Thanks pumpkin vine for the motivation!
