Walt Disney Parks Just Got More Expensive

June 2, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Somebody has to pay for the dinglehoppers!

Well price increases are inevitable now aren’t they.  Got notified via Disney Parks Blog the price of Walt Disney World  and Disneyland fun is changing effective today….and that means going up!

From Thomas Smith, Social Media Director at Disney Parks :

“We wanted to let Disney Parks Blog readers know that starting June 2, tickets to our Florida and California theme parks will be adjusted with new pricing.
As we’ve heard from many of our guests, the quality entertainment and attractions and the memorable moments created by our cast make a Disney theme park experience a great value. There’s something for everyone at Disney Parks to make a magical vacation memory.
You can now find information on the different ticket pricing on our Walt Disney World Resort ticket page and Disneyland Resort page.”

Bummer.

At Walt Disney World, new this year, a one day ticket to Magic Kingdom is $5 more than a one day ticket to Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Parking  at Walt Disney World in Florida is going up from $14 per day to $15 for non resort guests – resort guests can park at no charge in the parks.   Its going up on the west coast $1 too at Disneyland to $16 per day – everyone pays to park in the lots at Disneyland.

The biggest jump is the Premier Pass – good for admission Walt Disney World and Disneyland….12 months for $979, up $130!  YIKES.

Keep in mind if you want to try to same some $$ on tickets you can always try to order through an authorized reseller like UndercoverTourist.com or AAA.  Undercovertourist.com is allowed to sell tickets at the “old” price until they run out of inventory, so a good idea to check with them.  Every little bit helps you know?

Mousesavers.com is another great resource for the place to find discounts!

I am not surprised, but it does make me sad. I was thinking about getting a AP in December, but now I don’t think it will be worth it for me.

Oh well time to see more of the real world I guess.

It is sad. The increase is all over the board from like 1% to 15%….quite an increase.

I would never use the words “Disney” and “value” in the same sentence. I have students whose parents simply can’t afford to take a family with two or more children for a day. Until it is affordable to everyone, it is a luxury. Not a value.

I completely agree. We are a family of 6! so I go solo for races because we simply can’t afford to bring everyone.

I will say the park ticket discounts during race weekends are truly a great value compared to rack rates! However, I do races solo so we can share room costs at the WDW Resorts and now worry about car rental…which my husband cannot do without – he likes to be in control of his destiny. We never came here when I was growing up because my dad said it was too expensive……
