Lately it seems I have been so focused on other races and life I have forgotten about the next big race I have on the books….
One thing I LOVE about runDisney races is Official runDisney Training Consultant Jeff Galloway. For each race, he puts together a training program and runDisney posts it online here!
From the runDisney website: Jeff Galloway’s proven training program has led thousands of runners across the finish line, while reducing the chance of injury to almost zero. Only 3 weekly training days are needed: 30-45 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday, and a longer session on the weekend. On half of the weekends, most will be running and walking for an hour or less.
For more information, see Jeff’s book Galloway Training Programs at JeffGalloway.com.
I am a Galloway program graduate. When I prepared for my first half marathon, I joined a local Galloway group and trained with them. It held me accountable on the weekends to have to get up early and show up for our group runs. The camaraderie made the training painless and thanks to Jeff’s program I finished strong. For subsequent half marathons I always go back to Jeff! I was so excited to say hi to him at he Princess Half Expo in 2013 and thank him in person for his role in my road to getting fit…really I was emotional and teared up!
This week begins the runDisney training program for the Wine & Dine Half. They make it SO easy with programs for experienced and beginners.
I have gone to the runDisney Training page and printed out the PDF and hung it up. As I finish each training run I will check it off. I have also downloaded this on my calendar. I am making my training a priority meaning I HAVE to get each training run in.
I just want to have fun and finish so opting for the “To Finish in the Upright Position”.
To get an idea of how the schedule looks, here is page 1 from my program – even has the dates on it!
Besides the program schedule you get a program overview!
Each runDisney race has its own training schedule. Princesses, your training starts in October. Tinker Bell wannabes, you training starts n September.
There are other training programs out there……
Train Like a Mother – Another Mother Runner

Hal Higdon Half Training Plans for All levels
and many others….
My advice is to find one that looks good to you and stick with it. This way you will find yourself feeling strong as you cross the finish line! Happy Training!

Dopey training officially started last week and I am thrilled to have Jeff’s experienced advice helping me train for this challenge. I bought a special planner and transferred everything. But to add insult to injury (as others would think), I have added a legit Goofy weekend here in ATL in October. So, as to not kill myself, I transferred Jeff’s Goofy plan leading up to Oct 26-27. I have added in Another Mother Runner’s marathon training to compare apples to apples…and to help me remember to cross train AND incorporate speed work. Geesh, when did I get so competitive with myself?!?

Love Jeff and his training plans! He’s SO nice and I enjoyed meeting him! Good luck with training for Wine & Dine…I ran the inaugural, so the 5th is on my list for next year! :0)

I still can’t believe I have finished 5 half marathons, but Jeff’s program really works! ATL is lucky to have him local…though he travels so much now.
