Spent yesterday morning with Mickey, Minnie and Disney loving friends at Turner Field for the runDisney and Disney Sports #OnTheRoadToDisneyParks Atlanta Meetup.
It was all that and a Mickey Pretzel. Really it was incredible….but with Disney does that surprise? Whether going to a park, on a cruise or watching a movie, Disney is all about making memories and runDisney delivered on that big time with the meet-up.
I got a pep talk and encouragement from Jeff Galloway….

And my the runDisney shirt I have coveted for 2 years now with our OWN ATL #OnTheRoadToDisneyParks logo on the back!

I met up with friends in person who have been encouraging my running me via social media.

Seriously, running with Jeff Galloway decked out in a runDisney shirt on the streets of Atlanta, under the Olympic Rings and through Turner Field while meeting Mickey and Minnie is truly a memory I will forever cherish .
A face full of sweet sweet bling! |
I love this city and its rich history. My Irish ancestors settled in the area of downtown where we ran during the potato famine – their house was on land that is now the interstate and our family has been loving Atlanta since. We ran RIGHT by the site of their home and I was on a runners high at the experience runDisney brought to me. A little trivia, the ancestors were with the Catholic Priest who talked General Sherman into sparing the churches and hospitals as he burned the rest of the city down. We were not far from where those talks happened! I am still in awe of doing a runDisney run in this historic and well personal area for me.
Sparkling with my Swag Bag! THANKS Disney Sports and runDisney! |
The folks at runDisney did a great job with this event. Everything went smoothly, everyone was friendly and easy to approach and the run through Atlanta kicked booty. One of the best things about the meet-up, sharing it with my BRF Amy whom I went to WDW in 2011 with to run our first runDisney race, the Princess Half Marathon.

I wrote up a full meet-up recap here on DisBroads.com – its wordy but I wanted to cover everything that went down since this is away from the parks meetup is new. I can’t really SAY anything more than what I covered for the DisBroads, so working on a short video of all my photos to give an essence of the event, especially for those who want to try to make the next stop. It will be up this week.
Until then, here are a couple short clips of what I filmed.
I loved running around Turner Field and getting my pic with Minnie!
The New Balance runDisney shoes have been a HUGE hit among us runDisney lovers – really I can’t ever seem to find them in my size at the expos for the races – the only place they are sold. Pardon my background squee as they announce the new 2015 models and give a sneak peak on the big screen.
Disney didn’t share where the next #OnTheRoadToDisneyParks meet up will be, so keep an eye on the Hashtag on Twitter and follow @runDisney and Disney Parks Blog if you want to try to get in. People came to Atlanta from as far as Canada! I wrote about how I got in here. When you see the announcement you need to act FAST as these fill up quickly. Good luck and prepare to be blown away if you make it in.
