I know, I know, people make resolutions every year and they a distant memory by February. Guilty as charged myself. I AM a lazy person. Really I am happy vegging out and have NO problems doing nothing. Great for stress, not good in so many other ways.
But I also have HUGE commitment issues. I have great plans for things like the house, the blog, decorating, fun projects, eating, exercising….and I seem to fall short – um most of the time. No wonder my ring tone on Mr RWFR’s phone is Fine Young Cannibals “She Drives Me Crazy” – yeah, sometimes I am all talk and no follow through….there I said it.
My number one goal for 2014 is training for the 2015 Walt Disney World FULL Marathon in 2015. Yep, 26.2 miles. That goal in and of itself will take a HUGE commitment to training, BUT it also affects so much of my life I decided to start with some January goals.
* Eat Clean
Somehow the past few years, my body just doesn’t metabolize like it should and looking at what I put in, um sometimes not the best nutritionally. I am going to do my best daily to avoid processed foods and only eat naturally. Sadly I need to give my my recent addiction to Diet Cheerwine, the best soft drink around made in North Carolina. I know diet drinks just foster my need for sugar and awaken that craving. Water is the way to go and I will hydrate my runs with Coconut Water.
* Running Plan – stick with it 3 runs a week
Unless I am coughing up a lung, I need to be out getting in my training runs. Three times a week, really its not bad, its all about making it a priority and somehow this wasn’t a priority for me in 2013. I think for my full training later in the year, I will need to join a running group to help get me out on those LONG training runs. Still wondering what I have gotten myself into with the Marathon, but I want to try it.
* Daily Exercise
I need a healthier body, strong heart and stronger core, so I need at least 30 minutes of something everyday. I have all kinds of DVDs and a Gym Membership, hello, its going to be crowded this month at the gym, but I need to get my money’s worth so it will become more than just my treadmill place when I don’t want to run outside.
That is it.
I hope by setting these goals I can be accountable to myself. I am going to journal daily and weekly on how I did to help me think about where I am and staying on track. I know I am not perfect, but I just need to focus on my health this year. Plain and simple.
Did you make any goals for this year? You think these are too lofty to reach?

I got a great Kettlebell DVD with enough different workouts that I shouldn’t get bored. It’s been sitting on the TV shelf for a week…I’m not off to the best start!
Julie Franklin says
Oh THANKS…I am not alone. We can do this Jennifer! We can!

I love reading your blogs! I am suffering from the same issues- need to eat cleaner, commit to exercising more/better….You’re spot on with this post!
Julie Franklin says
Thanks mom of 2! Sounds SO easy doesn’t it! I have that lofty goal in 2015 and am smart enough to know I need to take more action than a running training plan. I am also sick of being this size. I KNOW if I take action to succeed on my full marathon, the weight and my current size…..average american, will take care of itself!
Fairytales and Fitness says
I have an entire basement of exercise equipment I don’t use, so my goal is to make that area a great space so I want to go there to use it!
Julie Franklin says
ME TOO! I have weights, Fit Decks, and want to get a bike and/or treadmill. Yeah I want it all and will I used it. Answer YES. Great Goal for the year……… I think if you exercise space is inspiring not like our dark basement it HAS to help.
