2014 runDisney Princess Half Marathon Expo Recap: Fit for a Princess

February 27, 2014 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

I have nothing but kudos for this year’s Fit for a Princess Expo at the 2014 runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.  The space in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports was spread out, there was plenty of merchandise, fun little photo ops and bib pickup was super easy.  I went alone around 3pm and found the lines short and the crowds not bad AT all.

I arrived and before going in ran into my friend Julia who was experiencing her first Princess Weekend. Go GURL!

I got a pic “with the sign”.   NOTE, this photo serves as my reminder take the time to check your photos when someone else takes them.  I need glasses to check my photos and just didn’t feel like pulling them out…big mistake. My photographer was super friendly though and nice thumb over the sign – hey I like this one of ME but oh well.  Yeah the sign is a nice map showing you where to go.

I stopped in the runDisney booth and chatted with Jeff Galloway.  He is SO encouraging.  I asked him about the WDW Full Marathon and my fears – and my plan.  He said my plan and goals were solid and to just get out there and a goal to just finish is WONDERFUL. I thanked him for inspiring me  and we chatted about that and his Galloway Retreats. Tahoe or Blue Mountain Beach Florida, what a dream of mine!

Got my  New Balance runDisney Minnie shoes.   They changed the process slightly, you could make an online reservation if you were a registered runner the morning of.  I had made a reservation online at 6am – and heard the reservtations filled up in less than 5 minutes ONLINE.  My estimated time was 4pm, but I got a text at 2pm my group was ready and to head to the New Balance booth.  They happily let me go in later and while they were out of the Minnie Women’s shoes in my size, I got me some girls shoes.  Sure they have less support than the adult ones…BUT I am only wearing them for walking not running AND they were $55 cheaper. SCORE!  FYI, I put my Superfeet inserts in them and they were SO comfy for park touring!  I also purchased two Raw Threads Shirts, the Snow and Evil Queen…hey my shoe savings, helped the expo budget.

I enjoyed strolling around just taking it all in:

I was happy to run into another friend Bonnie and we got our picture took by her mom with our bibs.

The expo was HUGE but the problems of last year, a thing of the past.  Check in and bib pick up went so smoothly – I waited in line like 3 minutes maybe.  Shirt pickup was a breeze and I tried on my shirts, they fit me fine so no need to try to swap out sizes.  The merchandise floor had EVERYTHING a Princess could want or need.  I found it full, but not crowded.  In expos past, I have left booths due to too many people, I am claustrophobic, but NOT an issue this year at all.  I wandered around for the most part alone, and had a blast.I was lacking on the photos – um someone left the camera at home and my phone stinks ….but never fear.   I have read recaps from some blogging friends and they got you covered.  For more recaps on the expo and merchandise photos, check out:

I had to laugh at the finger in the photo. I have to confess to doing that myself on occasion. It’s hard to ask random strangers to take pictures of you. Sometimes they just can’t do it.

Yeah….I know, when people ask me I cringe too, since well I need reading glasses to see the screen. 🙂 But I ask them to check it first.

Okay, first of all – I am HONORED that you included me in your list of other expo blogs! Especially since, you know – mine was lacking, lol! I need to direct folks to some better reviews, so I’m totally throwing yours in unless you tell me not to. 🙂

Now this: “NOTE, this photo serves as my reminder take the time to check your photos when someone else takes them. I need glasses to check my photos and just didn’t feel like pulling them out…big mistake. ” YES! No joke, I’m in the same boat – I really can’t see a darned thing on my phone without pulling out my reading glasses, and who wants to do that while a kind stranger waits? I wound up with some, um, interesting shots, too. 😉

Bwahahahaha but you got some great photos too! I loved your post V….takes all kinds. And your Dimity photo, make me smile…so I had to share it! I didn’t think it was lacking at all. 🙂

I got almost everything I wanted when I went Friday morning and no lines at that; I’d say the expo was a success!

I’m a little bummed I didn’t go to the expo, but I was probably better off that way. 😉

Yep, it was chock full of stuff to buy.

I had to run through the expo due to a time crunch. I was sad I didn’t get a chance to check out everything like I had hoped. I basically picked up my bib and shirt, and then stood in line with my kids to take a picture with Minnie and Aurora.

Um Minnie and Aurora at the expo? I take this as a NO LOL…you went to the parks. Normally I am in and out myself.

Like Ado Annie, “I’m just a girl who cain’t say no”. I spent way too much money at the expo, but I really enjoyed it and truly only got a couple of things that were not on “my list”. It was much better for me this year.

Yep, I got hyped into the shoes, AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Yay….. I did not get the I Did It Shirt, but oh well….. loving my Evil Queen Raw Threads. I was surprised that it wasn’t so packed, but last year was a total nightmare! Great it was fun.

Thanks for the shout out! I have to say that overall we were pretty pleased with the expo this year! ( I feel bad that you left your camera at home. I’ve often had nightmares of that happening…seriously!)

      February 27, 2014 at 4:33 pm

Yeah I got on the plane and was not pleased when it hit me. My phone camera is SO bad but hey, still got some great photos…plus tons from my friends. YAY.

Yep, loved hanging with my friends though I did wander around quite a while alone. Longest time I spent at an expo..that is what happens when you don’t have a park ticket for the day.

I was beyond excited to run into you at the expo! Glad we got to hang out! I had so much fun this last weekend with you guys. We thought the expo went smoothly too. No issues at all.
