Disclosure: I was provided a #DisneySide Party @Home Celebration Hostess Kit from Disney Parks and momSelect through my affiliation with Destinations in Florida at no cost to me. All opinions are my 100% my own.
Earlier this year, Disney launched their #DisneySide campaign for the year. Bloggers were invited to show their #DisneySide by hosting a party to celebrate with friends. They set up the DisneySide Home Celebrations page chock full of ideas for Disney themed Celebrations – great for MORE than just Birthday Parties!
“Everyone has a Disney Side- that fun-loving adventurous spirit that comes out to play when you’re feeling the Disney magic! Whether you show your Disney Side through fashion, food, or your favorite characters, or frequent visits to Disney Parks, it’s time to let it shine. Gather your fellow Disney fans, grab your Mickey ears and prepare to sprinkle some pixie dust on those who cross your path as you let your Disney Side take over!” – DisneySide Home Celebrations
I was thrilled to receive my DisneySide Party Hostess Kit and immediately knew I would be having a runDisney Themed Party with my running friends who share my passion of the runDisney races. I thought about having a party at my home but decided it would be fun to host it at a local park where I train for my races – because during my race training that trail becomes my home.
I sent an open invitation to my ATLrunsDisney friends and I tell ya, trying to organize a get together during race season is tough – so many races on the weekends to prep for the fun runDisney times. We settled on a date and the planning commenced.
I prepped for the party making Disney Cookies with my own Mickey Cookie Cutters and created cupcakes inspired by the master’s favorite Gray Stuff. We ended up decorating the cookies at the party with some of the Gray Stuff icing and all kinds of fun sugary things, sweet as Minnie herself!
I arrived on a gorgeous spring windy day and set up the goodies at the pavilion next to the trail. Sadly the wind was too blustery for my decor – really it was like a scene from Winnie the Pooh. Never fear, I had planned on some “Disney Weenies” . You know a park Icon – yeah that is what Imagineers called them. Since one of my FAVORITE tings about runDisney races are running through the parks – can’t make it to the parks, then bring them to you! I bought along Spaceship Earth and Space Mountain.
As the guests arrived, there was a character photo op with Princess Jasmine. Hey, what runDisney race isn’t complete without character photos you know? And if you need tips for some good race photos, I got some for you here. Here she is with my Anna.
We started by making ChEAR Signs with the instructions: How would you inspire your favorite runner?
We tested out a sign on some unsuspecting runners and were greeted back with smiles and thank yous. People also liked our race costumes – we had Malifcent, Minnie and Warrior Mulan represented!
We played a highly competitive Disney Bingo Game with the prizes being Mickey Cookie Cutters, Meausuring Cups form ABC’s The Chew, some recipes and some party decorations to throw one’s own DisneySide Party.
We decorated cookies with the Grey Stuff icing and ate the cupcake and Craisins from Ocean Spray. AND while I was passing out some goodies….we even had our OWN fireworks show….no really how random is that, fireworks on a Sunday afternoon in March! It happened but I was SO busy serving up my guests, I didn’t get it on video… But I promise there was that extra pixie dust!
More Group photos passed out the goodie bags with runDisney ESPN Wide World of Sports Bumper Stickers, Super Cute Minnie Posters, runDisney Bracelets, HP Photo Card Packs to Print out our character photos, Muppet Calendars and more and it was time to run…..rather go home.
Thanks to all who came and made my Celebration so much fun. Being able to share your love of Disney with your best running friends is the best. I had fun putting my own little spin on my #DisneySide @HomeCelebration.
