Halloween Songs To Get You In The Spirit

October 31, 2014 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

halloween hits

How about a Five For Friday Halloween tuna-age edition?  I love Halloween Music and fun scary songs – remember Dr Demento show?  Really sets the mood for the ghoulish fun to get you in the spirit of the day. These are my top 5 Halloween or Spooky songs in no particular order.

1. Theme from Nightmare Before Christmas by Danny Elfman

Duh, its in my post title. This song always puts our family in the mood and we end up singing it all day long. Up until last year, mini me would yell, stop singing, you are creeping me out. Success.  I found a cool decorated house with light show set to this song for your enjoyment.

2. Spooky by the Atlanta Rhythm Section

OK, Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little girl like you…This song is from a fave local band of my youth in a time when music was the best in my opinion. Great guitar, fun lyrics – hey Halloween Proposal and yes LOVE is crazy.  Sentimental entry here.

3. Thriller by Micheal Jackson

Do you know the dance? Remember watching the video like a zillion times on MTV. Vincent Price for the win!
Here’s the 13 minute version. You are welcome!

4. Talking Heads Psycho Killer

Qu’est-ce que c’est? Memories memories dancing around singing Fa Fa FA FA FA, Fa Fa, fa fa fa….with some great advice…
“You start a conversation and you can’t even finish it,
You’re talking a lot but you aren’t saying anything,
When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed,
Say something once, why say it again.”
   Discuss.

5. Ghostbusters Theme by Ray Parker, Jr.

Bustin’ makes me feel good…best lyrics ever.  Its hard to believe its been 30 year since the movie came out, what a classic. The video is also a fun who’s who of the 80’s and film shouting “Ghostbusters”. Ok, this might be my favorite.

That is it. I have no rights to these songs, I just love them. You like them too, hey go download. Support the artists!

Happy Halloween!

What do you think of the off the top of my head list? What am I missing, tell me some of your favorite songs of this season!

I would have to have “Werewolves of London” and “Monster Mash,” plus your #2, #3, and #5. Don’t you just love singing along with all of these songs for about 2 weeks every year?

We do like the Monster Mash in our family…and of course the Addams Family theme. Werewolves Of London is another fun one! I need to download a party CD for next year.

Welcome!
