My Mix Tape, They’re Playing “Our Song”

We are in LOVE with the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Volume 1 Soundtrack, its Mini Me’s favorite tuneage – really she just wants to hear Come and Get Your Love . One of the tracks on the CD is Elvin Bishop “Fooled Around and Fell In Love”. This is a sweet and special song to me as it is my Sister and her husband’s “song”. They were so young when they got married and it was a time when AM Gold songs dominated. Hearing this classic made me thing of  my “our song” with Mr. RWR.

See. We met online and dated long distance – him in Southern California and me in Northern Atlanta. He made a mix tape to give me the first time I went to visit him. “Our Song” was on it but hey, I will get to that later.

Mr RWR is NOT a pack rat and I was shocked when I found my tape!

It had a hot side and a cool side, cuz you know I am complicated that way.  Some songs he knew I liked and others he just put on there.  Which one suits me best you think?

The HOT Side, really? Prince Erotic City? Men. Though it does have some fantastic songs on it to be sure. He picked these out.

Y’all think Mr. RWR was totally being a guy or what with these HAWT steamy songs? OUR song is on this side believe it or not. What is the Super Secret Track you ask? Hey the hubs knew a good thing when he saw it. He IS super intelligent I tell ya.

So what is OUR SONG? We had been dating about a year and he proclaimed if we ever get married, this will be our first dance, and it was.

So there you have it. A little insight into the romantic that I married. He was surprised I found the tape, but he immediately knew the super secret song and yeah, the playlist is still on his computer.

Sad thing, I can’t play the tape. The only tape player we have….our “Hello Kitty” boom box, is not working. What a sweet reminder of those romantic days. And yeah, I totally fell in love more with him when he presented it to me.

    First off, you look BEAUTIFUL in your wedding picture. Just stunning!

    Secondly, I find it funny that you met online ( new technology) yet he made you a cassette tape ( old school technology). I guess I am in a bit of a time warp!

    Awww! I love this post! I don’t have a mix tape. But I do have a CD My husband made me with love songs on it. The label on the cd actually says will you marry me. 🙂 he used it to propose. Our favors at the wedding were cds we made with some of the songs from my CD.
