Yesterday the family finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy, yeah, I know we were long overdue, but the benefit, almost empty theater. Mr RWR was a fan of the comics, so he knew the story; Mini Me and I were well newbies going in. We all loved the movie -what’s not to love about a band of misfits coming together to fight evil to save the galaxy. A movie first for us, Mini Me actually teared up at one point, awww. I found a new awesome running mix . I came home and immediately downloaded the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
The music was a critical part of Peter Quill aka Star Lord’s character as it was his connection to his past and his mom. Chris Pratt did an amazing job on screen showing appreciation of the 70’s AM Gold songs which were on a mix tape from his mom to him “Awesome Mix Volume 1” , some of his mom’s favorite songs. Y’all remember mix tapes? They were truly an expression of love when you made one for somebody and a way to give someone a little of yourself with your love of the songs on the mix. I loved that aspect of this movie so much, as I loved the mix tape.
Turns out, me and Star Lord’s mom have the SAME love of 70’s music, truly the best decade I tell ya. Check out the playlist which I copied from marvel.com:

I loved mix tapes so much. I need to make some playlists for myself, no new ones in a while. And your friends are super lucky! I would love a new mix from a friend to shake things up.

Absolutely loved this movie. The beginning was a tough way to start though. I have a slight Groot obsession at the moment.
As far as the soundtrack, it’s a fave. So many great songs. Oddly enough, I don’t have it yet. But I do want to get it. The soundtrack totally set the vibe for the movie.

Ha ha! I love this! I can’t imagine working out to 70’s music. Well, maybe anything by Olivia Newton John. Is that 70’s? I love 80’s music too. Best soundtracks from all those John Hughes films.
