I have noticed lately on social media some serious negativity. I am seeing lots of complaining, irritation and criticism with others. Sure some of this is justified and yes people do need to vent, but it makes me so happy I am not dealing with some of the stuff I see. Then again I wonder if I come off that way too. Maybe its this stressful time of year, or the fact the flu is going around and lots of moms are housebound. The holidays can be so depressing, no surprise there.
I was thinking last week I needed to do something different because I am seeing too much negative, rather focusing on it. A friend of mine posted this book today and highly recommended it – I think its just what I am looking for.
John Kralik was in a funk. At 53 he was overweight, his law practice was failing, twice divorced and did not have a good relationship with his kids. He decided to start focusing on being GRATEFUL rather than the misery and stress that can be his daily life. Sounds good right?
I have been a little funky lately myself. This time of year, I tend to reflect back and can get caught up in what I am missing. We lost our 15 year old dog this year – that was so hard for me and though some time has passed, I still miss my Mom and Dad, Bothers, Sister and baby Caleb all who I still think should be celebrating with us. I know I know, live in the NOW, not in the past. I certainly can become a little more positive than I have been lately myself!
From the reviews will help me focus on the now and all my blessings. Even if its an email or Facebook post to a friend, I want to focus on what I am thankful for. I just downloaded 365 Thank Yous: The Year a Simple Act of Daily Gratitude Changed My Life from Amazon. Merry Christmas to me from me! If you want to join me, you can order the book too here:
It will be interesting to check back next year and reflect on how this impacted me and the family. I will check in and let you know how things are going periodically too. I would LOVE to hear if you are joining this journey with me.
Let me know if you want to participate in 365 days of Thank Yous.

Love this idea! I am on board. It has been a rough year for me and I need to get back to being grateful for what I do have and am blessed with and letting go of the negativity. 🙂

Sounds like a good book to read. It’s important to remember your blessings and be grateful all year round. I may have to look at picking that one up.
