My YouFit Health Club Transformation

June 4, 2015 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Thanks to Youfit Health Clubs for sponsoring this post. I was provided a 2 months club membership and four Youfit Coach sessions for my Youfit Health Club Transformation. OK, just the beginning, but what a great start it has been. See pic below, I want to be this girl again, she was fit and happy with her self – it hasn’t been that long, this is from 2011.

Castle Photo Princess Half I started this journey 2 months ago looking to develop a healthy and consistent fitness and cardio routine. I was excited I would work with a Youfit Coach for 4 sessions because I walk in a gym and feel dumb and overwhelmed with “what do I do?”. When I started I was burnt out on running and heavier than I have been other than when I was pregnant. My former fat size 14’s were too small to put on. I had only a couple of pair of shorts I could wear and I did NOT want to go purchase a new wardrobe in size 16s. At my assessment I realized how weak I had become in core and upper body strength.

My goals at the start of the 2 months were pretty simple:

  1. Fit into My Clothes from Last Summer – really, how did I get this way.
  2. Develop Core and Upper Body Strength – I had nothing.
  3. Feel Better About Myself – in how I looked and felt.

Starting with Goal #1, through listening to my Youfit coach’s advice on how many times to work out a week and the type of workouts I needed, Goal 1 easily achieved. My coach was incredibly encouraging and as someone who had transformed himself losing over 100 lbs, he was understanding and empathetic. I can see the fruits of my first two months in my before and after photos. My shorts I could not get on earlier in the spring, they are loose on me now.

To get results I wanted,  I learned from my trainer I should be doing 3 fitness/strength workouts a week and 6 days of cardio, 30 minutes each. I learned I LOVE the rowing machine, something brand new to me. Seriously what a workout!

During these 2 months I enjoyed 2 trips: a girls weekend at the beach and a trip to Disney with the family for Mother’s Day. My trainer reminded me that life was meant to be enjoyed, however I needed to remember my training while away from the gym. Thanks for keeping me active while away with the words of wisdom from above!

Through my personal training sessions at the gym, I learned new moves, used equipment I had never touched. I was shocked when I was doing dips for my lower abs. Who knew, I can lift my knees up and down while holding my body weight up. I could barely do any when I started and its been great to see I can do more each visit. Granted I have a ways to go, but its nice seeing progress that comes with hard work.

My trainer not only helped get me through exercises themselves, he found ways to help me have better workouts. I was doing fine one workout then crashed the last few minutes. I was asked what I had for breakfast and my trainer shared with me what he eats on days with a big workout, bam…. it worked for me too next session!

I cannot say enough about how my Coach inspired me to succeed. Even when I couldn’t make it to the gym, wisdom and encouragement would get me to workout at home or run/walk the neighborhood. I certainly worked harder and smarter when I was with the trainer on my own, yet when on my own, his words got me through my workouts.

Beside having a trainer, the fabulous facilities at YouFit are responsible for my success too. Just the right mix of equipment with free weights, cardio, circuit and a floor/stretching area; it is really everything I need to keep from being bored or in a rut. I just needed to get back to basics and Youfit provided this in probably the cleanest gym I have ever seen….really someone is always cleaning the equipment.

If there is a YouFit in your area, go check it out. I have enjoyed my gym time so much I am joining. The staff is friendly as is the clientele. I loved at my location seeing people of all fitness levels and ages working out and yes, encouraging one another.  My husband has seen a difference in me, both physically and mentally when I come home from a workout.

Goal #3 achieved, I am feeling good about myself again on my quest to live a healthy life. Look no one says, I think I will train for a Marathon and let myself go…..yet I did. Thanks YouFit for getting me back on track and giving me the facility at an incredible price to STAY on track. I still have a ways to go to my end goals, but I am on my way!
