Disney Cruise Line Announces Two New Ships

March 3, 2016 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

WOW, Disney Cruise Line is adding two ships to their fleet!   Disney Cruise Line is proud to announce plans today to build two additional cruise ships, each of them showcasing the immersive family entertainment, enchanting storytelling and unparalleled service that only Disney can deliver.

Setting sail in 2021 and 2023 two new ships will join DIsney Cruise Line

The new ships, each approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms, will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. These new vessels will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, and be completed in 2021 and 2023.

While design plans, ship names and itineraries are still in development, the Walt Disney Imagineering team is already dreaming up exciting new ways to create the world’s most magical oceangoing adventures.

2021 seems like so far away, but then again I am showing my age, that is only 5 years away.  Exciting news for sure for cruising fans as Disney Cruise Line continues to stand out in the industry:

Cruise Critic, the world’s leading cruise reviews site and online cruise community, recently announced the winners of its 6th Annual Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards. For 2016 Disney Cruise Line scored big in the large ship category with nine first place awards. The annual awards name the best cruise ships in the world, based solely on ratings submitted with reviews published on the Cruise Critic website.

Disney Cruise Line was this year’s big winner, with a total of 11 first place awards, nine in the large ship category. The Disney Dream which was recently enhanced, was named Best Overall in the Large Ship category for a second year in a row, and was also awarded Best for Families, Best Cabins, and Best Public Rooms. Disney Cruise Line received top honors in two size categories for Best Entertainment and Best Service, for both Disney Dream and Disney Wonder, with the ships winning in the Large Ship and Mid-Size Ship categories, respectively.

This is pretty awesome. Granted, have to wait a while. Looking forward to taking our first Disney cruise in a couple years as the kids are getting older.
