WISH Shirt……………
I have been active on DisBoards since I started training for the princess last year. Its a very supportive community with lots of great info. The exercise/race/health board is known as W.i.S.H. for "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy". I ordered a shirt to wear during races from this group and I LOVE the saying on the back. DLF>DNF>>DNS Dead Last Finish is Greater Than Did Not Finish which Trumps Did Not Start I will never "win" a race, and by that I mean be the fastest in my … [Read More...]
Raindrops on roses……..
This is indeed one of my favorite things..... the GARMIN 305 - so many features. I love how I can look down and see how far I have gone, what my pace is, and my time as I run. I could set it to beep for my run/walk intervals, but I prefer my IPOD for that, plus in a race, don't want to bother everyone. The image above shows I went 3.00 miles in 38 minutes and 12 seconds. 11:50 is the pace, but you know its not the average pace, it just popped up for a second. When you are … [Read More...]
Successful week 1…………..
I did it! I made my 3 runs this week and in this heat and humidity that is a huge accomplishment. I am so looking forward to the fall for cooler weather...heck I even prefer running in the cold to this.My times and endurance are back to last year when I started running...which is OK. I got lazy to let my Plantar Faciitis heal and it took longer than I thought it would....but looking back at my runs last year I was dealing with the other's foot healing so not sure why I thought this one … [Read More...]
Its all downhill from here…….
This 5k is almost all downhill....sounds good to me, though downhill can be hard on the knees! Hoping for a personal record to use for next year's Peachtree Road Race - to move me up a little when starting. I will come no where near the course record, but hoping to push myself to my fastest - without hurting myself.VININGS DOWNHILL 5K - September 10thBilled as the FASTEST 5K COURSE IN ATLANTA with a net course drop of 330 feet. The course record is 15:38 - and its a Peachtree … [Read More...]
Coach Rick…..
This has been floating around a circle of friends on Facebook. Made me giggle and think Rick would be a great coach or cheerleader for my training. Off to Itunes to download. … [Read More...]
It’s On…..
First official training run for the Princess. SO hot out there, I need to get up earlier! I haven't run since July 4th race. The Galloway program does say to slow things down in the heat, and not remembering the specifics....I winged it. Off to research for next time.Certainly not my fastest or best run eve but I will brag on myself a tad. Its kind of hilly where I live and I kept my 2/1 Run/Walk Intervals the whole time...even up hills, though my runs, well … [Read More...]
Hey There, Here I Go!
Wecome to my blog! I am a 46 year old mom of a preschooler who is always trying to get in shape.Seems like I have been a size 12 my whole life, though let me tell you, Size 12 is much bigger than they used to be.I took up running in 1999 and completed the Atlanta 1/2 Marathon. I have never considered myself a runner and I am slow. I joined a Galloway training group and was introduced to the world of Interval running where you run some and walk some - to give you body recovery time. I … [Read More...]
