HALLELUJAH!

Seriously….. I did NOT enjoy that one at all.  It was hard and made me cranky.  Sure I noticed I got stronger, and my waist is coming back.  That is good right?  I only missed 2 days; that was also good.  Thing is, the second half made me so cranky I can’t say I enjoyed it.  I mean with the squat challenge I felt like I accomplished something, with this one, my memory is it made me GRUMPY and well I in the dwarves world, I would rather move towards HAPPY.

SO with that in mind I came up with a less daunting challenge for August.  Its something we ALL should be doing  AND its something we can do EVERY DAY.

Yep the same thing for everyday.

Walk for 30 minutes.

The article above is from About.com.  Its got some basic information about how walking can prevent weight gain and links to different walking programs you can try out.  OK, I don’t want to gain any weight…that sounds good, especially for someone approaching the mid century birthday.

While some might think of walking as meh, I can do something better, check out these 8 benefits of walking 30-40 minutes a day here in Mother Nature Network – including decreasing the meds you take  and better sex life.  Really it says that!

OK, you guys can google just as well as me. There is a TON of information out there that relay the benefits of walking and moving away from a sedentary lifestyle.

I read an article in a Mom magazine that touted breaking up your 30 minutes into three 10 minute walk segments a day has more benefit to rev the metabolism than a steady 30.  Hey it said that, so I think THIS is what I will try.  Even on days when I run.

As always,  consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Mine told me walking 30 minutes a day was GREAT for me and highly suggested, so its been on my mind.

Time for me to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.  How about you?

You in for August?    Thirty minute walk every day….break it up, do it at once, just get it done.  Give me a should out in the comments if you are committing!

AND for my July Ab Challengers….how did you do? Are you as happy to have this over as I am?
Thanks for hanging in there and keeping me motivated.   I could use your continued help to motivate me to get my walking done.
