Princess Half Marathon Official Race Shirts and Medals Through the Years

January 23, 2015 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Princess Half Shirts and Medals

I first ran the Princess Half Marathon in 2011. I loved it so much, I have returned each year and plan on going again next month. The women’s centered weekend is a blast and the bling is super sparkly!  I was asked by a reader if I had photos of my Princess Race Shirts and a post was born. Here you go, from 2011 to present, the Official Race Shirts for the Half, 10k and Glass Slipper Challenge. I threw in the medals too for fun – who doesn’t like comparing the bling?

SHIRTS:

Princess Half Shirt 2011 2012

Princess Half Shirts 2013 2014

Princess 10k and Glass Slipper Challenge Shirt(1)

My thoughts:

  • 2011 and 2012 both were white, nice shirts, but for running I don’t like white gets see through, great for the parks though.
  • 2013 is my FAVORITE, LOVE the Purple.
  • 2014 Half Shirt is my least favorite. It is GRAY, blah – not my color me beautiful color and the logo layout and colors not the best IMO. The word 1/2 Marathon is WAY TOO BIG!
  • Enchanted 10k Design is the BEST…but again, white shirt.
  • Glass Slipper Challenge Shirt is light blue, its kind of a weird shade as this shirt matches nothing for me of my skirts, its just a little off. I think its the logo colors that make it meh for me, though love the logo.

AND NOW THE BLING, THE MEDALS:

2015 Medals from runDisney blog…..note they look gold but will be silver, I saw them at the Walt Disney World Marathon Expo but blogger fail, no photos were taken. I will update this when I get MY 2015 medals.

My two cents on the medals:

  • 2011 and 2012 are the same medal, just different dates and main jewel color. Also the ribbon on the 2011 is embroidered while in 2012 they changed to printed ribbons.
  • 2013 is the five year anniversary, so its extra blingy. They will mack out the 2018 10 year medal too, if you are planning ahead.
  • 2014 Half Medal does not have a year on the medal part – oops!  Looks like this is fixed with the 2015 version around the jewel.
  • Enchanted 10k Inaugural Medal is GORGEOUS.   Looks better to me than the Half Medal.
  • The Glass Slipper Challenge Medal is so pretty in person, pictures do not do it justice.
  • The 2015 Medal photo from runDisney, seems like they could get better images as the medals ALWAYS look better when you see them.

I cherish my 2013 PHM race shirt – it is the perfect shade of purple and the design is the best they’ve had yet. Coincidentally, I was dressed as Megara that year, so purple was my thing for 2013, lol.

I agree about the white race shirts – they’re nice to wear as a regular tshirt (I have the 2012 PHM race shirt), but not great for working out (two words: pit stains. Ew…). I don’t really mind last year’s race shirt, in my opinion it represented the glass slipper-ness of the weekend.

I really hope this year’s race shirt knocks it out of the park!

I know you can’t please everyone! But the shirts last year were meh IMO…this year hoping they come back to cuteness.

I absolutely loved the bold colors of last year’s I Did It shirt for the half but the race ones? Yeah, meh, not my favorites. I did wear my white 10k shirt to the parks afterwards but stayed away from all foods requiring catsup. 😉 I thought the silver medals for this year’s PHM were really pretty – here’s hoping the race shirts are, too!

Yep I can forgive them for 2 meh shirts last year, I did like the medals and silver will be a cool change… See what I did there LOL. 🙂

I got my Glass Slipper shirts last year and immediately said, “Oh, they look like a color palette paint swatch for a bathroom.” …I was super disappointed the colors were so dull. And loved the Enchanted design too, but I never wear it because it’s white! It’s a Princess-themed weekend – bright colors should be a prerequisite. Here’s hoping for a bright 2015 palette!

I agree that purple shirt is the best! Someone at runD LOVES the gray though, its been at every race I think. There is something weird about the shades s they used last year, hoping this year is awesome….we know it will be some kind of frozen color scheme….. OK that is my guess!

Yeah, my ToT 10M shirt from this year is a dark grey too, come to think of it. Ugh, grey and white… I know they’re probably cheaper to produce…but we pay RD enough for bright colors!

…And I think betting anything “Frozen” is solid odds these days! 😉

I am running my first ever Run Disney race next month, tackling the Glass Slipper Challenge! Reading your post on the shirt and the medals has me even more excited for this race. I definitely think the silver medals are going to look better than the gold – my personal opinion.

I like the gold, but change is good….they need something to shake it up! I love the Princess weekend….its a crowdedrace in some spots, but fun!

Last year was my first Princess but I am REALLY looking forward to this year’s silver medal! I hope they up their game on the race shirt too over last years…

Yeah, I would love a team Anna Royal Blue shirt! Last year’s half shirt was a mess IMO….. but they have had some cute ones.
