Motivational Monday: Glass Slipper Challenge Training Starts Today

September 30, 2013 by Julie @RunWalkRepeat

I just returned from the Type A Parent Conference.  This video was shared by Gary Buchanan, PR Social Media Managing Editor at Disney in his rocking keynote talk “Get Cre8ive with Innovation and Innovention (and a Dash of Pixie Dust)“.

In the video, meet Barbara, Disney Magic Kingdom Main Street Cast Member.

Naturally this video spoke to me as I LOVE the Move It Shake It Street Party which is held several times daily at Magic Kingdom.  I have been known to march down by the rope as the parade heads to the hub.

See…

Barbara’s story started me to think “what can I do in my routine to help me try to shed some excess weight I am carrying around”.   Barbara just gave it her all at he street party.  Now I don’t work at a theme park dance party so I can’t exactly follow her Disney Parks workout  – but I do work from home and have time.

AH HA……yeah, that moment hit me!

School. Its a mile from my house.  I have been driving to pick up every afternoon. I talked to Mini Me last night – we are going to walk home from school 3 days a week.   I am adding to my routine walking 2 miles a day, 3 days a week.  Hey its a start, right?

We walked home today.  Here’s my main Street and I think I am going to like my version of Move It Shake It…  It was a gorgeous day and we had a nice chat about Science Class Sounds.

Its a start for my runDisney Glass Slipper Challenge training too. I plan on walking the 10k in the challenge, so this walking will incorporate that training along with my Intervals for the half.  Thanks to Barbara at Disney for inspiring me to officially start for my dance down Main Street in February for the Princess Half Marathon!

What suggestions do you have for something you can add it to your routine to help you stay healthy and fit?   Did seeing Barbara enjoying her job inspire you too?

Sometimes baby steps are just what are needed. I reset all the time! Your pictures are great.

That is so awesome. I am doing a healthy challenge this month to “reset” after a long vacation. I am adding a few new habits like stretching and staying better hydrated. I am training for princess too! Good luck!

thanks Karen…all Barb did was give it her all in her everyday…I can work towards that. Walking is a good first step.

Welcome!
