I admit it. I am a Disney addict. I love all things Disney, makes me happy. As the Princess Half Approached last week, Disney Parks Blog messaged that they would be having a special meet up before the race on Friday Morning including: * A 2 or 3 mile run through a park before opening with: Jeff Galloway Sean Astin  -Goonies, Rudy Lord of the Rings) Ali Vincent - First Female Winner on the Biggest Loser April Holmes two-time Paralympic track and field medalist * Inspirational … [Read More...]

2011 Princess Half Part 5 – Post Race Par-Tay!

February 19, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

recap  from 2011 Princess Half Marathon, post race party!  Continued from Part 4, end of race recap here. After I got back to the lovely Swan Hotel, this place is awesome, I took a very cold bath to soak my legs and feet.  It felt great.  I then took a shower and discovered the chafing on my back under my bra...OUCH, its a painful way to find it!  But that and one blister on my foot were my only race injuries, not bad at all. Amy came back from her massage and we chilled for a bit.  Jackie … [Read More...]

The Year I Ran Injured 2011 Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon – Part 4 It’s the End of the Race as I know it

February 16, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Final 2011 Princess Half Recap Installment 4 , continued from Part 3 here. After exiting the Castle tunnel I veered over to my left to wait in a line to get my pic taken....look how brilliant the light was...it was around 7 am at this point.   THIS photo is what many do the race for! Yeah I get red in the face when I exercise...and I have to say, my legs have NEVER looked better!  This is what running does for ya. I ran off into the Liberty Square area I believe next.  There was Tiana, … [Read More...]

2011 Princess Part 3 The Year I Ran Injured – “Have Fun Storming the Castle”

February 14, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

2011 Princess Half Recap continued from part 2.... As we passed over the starting line I hit the old start button on my long lost friend my Garmin to keep up with my pace on demand, cool huh!  Since I had been injured, I wasn't running outside and the old gal had not been used in over a month- I sure missed her.  As Amy ran off to hit her pace I felt myself smiling despite the fact EVERYONE was passing me, but had to do my warm up walk for a few minutes.  When the IPOD told me "RUN" I took … [Read More...]

Princess Half The Year I Ran Injured Part 2 – Let’s Get It Started, Its Race Day

February 13, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

from my Just Julie blog...race recap 2011, pre-race jitters.....continued from Part 1 Before the alarm went off at 3am, I woke up.  Amy stirred as well and we turned off the alarm about 5 minutes before it was to go off.  Time to get dressed and ready to run Princess Half Marathon. I tape up the feet as if I am an elite runner and slather the Blue Emu cream on the calves and feet. I was so tired and nervous, I started to try to focus on being positive. "I will finish, I can do this, its … [Read More...]

Recap “Princess 2011 – the Year I Was Injured -Part 1”

February 12, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

For anyone who can remember, 2011 was my first half marathon training since 2000, that is a whole other story.  I thought it might be fun to post my experience.  The set up, I was training great, never missed a run.  We had a wicked Ice Storm shutting down the city for a week and I didn't train.  My first run after was 11 miles, I woke up the next morning with horrible Plantar Faciitis.  It was bad. I saw a Sports Doc and went to Physical Therapy 5 weeks before the race, essentially, I couldn't … [Read More...]

Commit To Your Training….

February 8, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Princess is in 2 weeks and I have been great this past month about getting my training.  I have also been working on my diet and am eating to try to shed some pounds and to be healthier. I have noticed I am feeling stronger in my runs.  Nice benefit....getting a little faster too.SO to commit to keep on keeping on after the Princess I signed up for a flat 10k April 20th to go for a new personal best.  This should keep me running after the Princess.  My current record was on a … [Read More...]

Got my Mojo back!

January 31, 2013 By Julie @RunWalkRepeat

Had a fabulous training long run Tuesday.  I set a goal regarding pace and pretty much stuck to it.  Oh yeah, and slowed it down from my fast short distance pace like Galloway recommended.  And yeah, it was awesome.  Only 1 more long run before the princess!  You know when you say to yourself, this run I do not want to be out of breath and just stick to it, you can go a long ways! With the princess 1/2 looming I feel good my last 2 training runs have felt strong … [Read More...]
