Be Prepared……..
Today FINALLY is my little princess's first day of school - our last year at the preschool, pass the Kleenex my baby is growing up but MAN it was good to be apart from her a few hours. My plan was to drop her off and go to the gym to get my run on since forecast called for rain. WELL, let me tell you this morning was my running condition Nirvana....low 60's with a light drizzle. When I got to my mom van to go to the gym, I thought about running on the path by school, but decided against it as … [Read More...]
Sometimes just getting up is the biggest hurdle
I made it out today. Been a while. Took it slow so not impressed with my time, but glad I got in 3.2 today. Thanks for your support.I did a 6 minute warm up walk, normally do 5, but forgot to turn on my interval app. Followed with 2:1 (run 2 minutes, walk 1) for 30 minutes - 2.75 miles, then walked the rest. Total time was 43:30, yeah, no speedy here, but hey, I feel good now.Off to juice! … [Read More...]

So my plan is to get a run in the morning....my lazy butt needs to get going. I was going to do it this morning, but lets just say a night with margaritas at the local Mexican restaurant did not want me getting up early and running today...sheesh I am getting old - and I can't tell you the last time we drank Margaritas whilst dining.Anyhoo......here's to a good morning!August is over, its a hard month for me due to losing my son 7 years ago - and this year seems like I was in a funk more than a … [Read More...]
Julie is Juicin’
Getting healthy is NOT just about exercise, though it certainly plays a part. We have been OD'ing lately on Netflix documentaries...all great. I am becoming a little obsessed with my poor diet and the onslaught of evidence how a plant based diet can actually prevent and repair things like bad hearts and even cancer. My family's history - mom and brother died in early 50's of heart attack....HELLO, I am about to be 47. One of the most entertaining food related shows I watched was … [Read More...]
It’s that time…..
....time for some new shoes. Asics 2150s in Pink Lemonade Lightening The old shoes are worn. I have been having issues with my feet as of late. Sore arches, tingling and numbness, soreness on both feet. I was panicking that I was spiraling into injury again.....I figured out, its just time for new shoes. My everyday sneakers - my old "run only" shoes were the culprit. I now must rotate my "running only" into the everyday shoe and get some new … [Read More...]
“The Only Thing We Have To Fear……..
Is Fear Itself......" Franklin D RooseveltFear is paralyzing....stops us from achieving what we are capable of.The past weekend both of my feet and legs have been bothering me. Weird sensations, sore and tingly arches, tight calves and hamstrings. I have been afraid to run for fear of bringing back my Plantar Faciitis - had it 2010 in Right foot and 2011 in Left. This fear has kept me from running.....which is stupid as I need to start my training for upcoming … [Read More...]
What are you doing about it?
A question I have been asking myself lately about my health, weight and happiness.Quite frankly, the past 2 weeks not enough....however I have been SO enjoying the last weeks of summer hanging out with my preschool daughter. Precious times! I will say last week it was too hot for the pool a couple days. So we have been just hanging inside. But back to topic. Long term goal of the half in February gets closer every day. Not my first so I know what I am in for, and I … [Read More...]
LIVE LIFE…..
Saw this pic on Run Like A Mother's FB page....too good not to pass along. Something in there for everyone.I needed this today, again a slacker this week...heat, laziness, but things have got to change now. It has been too hot for me to get to the pool. When I was running last year I loved it....I missed it when my foot got hurt. Now I am fat and lazy again. This heat and humidity is not helping. I don't like the lazy person I am and want to get fit."If you don't like … [Read More...]
Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead………
OK, I got some pounds to lose. I am not sick, though my tendons are inflamed from my Plantar Faciitis. I am not nearly dead as far as I know....I watched a documentary last week called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. It was very motivating and inspiring. Its about a guy from down under who is .....you guessed it. He is overweight and has an autoimmune disorder. Based on research of the micronutrients and macronutrients in fruits and vegetables, he decides to do a juice … [Read More...]
